Tariffs could complicate plans for first-time homebuyers in western Washington

A local realtor said if home developers face steeper costs for building materials like wood, aluminum and steel, those costs could be passed on to the consumer.

Lumber from Canada is subsidized by the Canada government. It's about 40% of the imported lumber to the USA. The US has trees and lumber mills. Maybe Builders should buy American lumber to keep American workers working. Avoid paying the tariff on Canadian lumber. Weyerhauser is headquatered here in Seattle. Over 9000 employees. Stop buying subsidized lumber from Canada!!!
