Owner here. Engine is healthy but as you see it is not possible to go all out above 220 as the winter tyres are rated to just 240km/h.

Speedo is really accurate so bear that in mind too.

With summer tyres it can hit 290 GPS all day....eventually :)

C55 Owner. I’ve hit 160. He went about 161mph. The fastest I’ve ever heard of a C55 going is 171mph (275kph) on Benz world forums and it was modified.

Owner C55 sedan. Always a renewed pleasure to drive this car, able to be cool and change character to become "edgy, even angry". Generous, even at very high revs. Sound gets castling from 3000 RPM to 6500. FYI @autotopnl, in manual mode you hit the 6500 limit. In S mode only about 6300.

I had the use of one of these when it was almost brand new the fastest I ever got out of it was 252 kmh with limiter still on with about 8000 on the clock I got the limiter removed and the fastest speed I ever got out of it was 287 kmh with numerous attempts this was by gps not speedo.
It was such a great car to drive so advanced for 2004 terrific engine and sound too I often wound the windows all down just so I could hear it

C55 has a front end from clk c209 because of there was no room for the amg engine. So rare..

We can't do that here in the USA because so many people think they own the left lane and seldom drive faster than the rest of the traffic, or at times slower. Many will drive for miles and miles beside another vehicle with no intention of passing.

Probably one of the most underrated sports sedans/wagons out there. Also quite affordable now. I'm sure it would've been so much more desirable if it was available with a manual. Luckily, people have figured out how to make the 6 speed manual from a C320/Crossfire work in them by now, so a swap is not that hard to do.

My favorite AMG!! The only C class besides the new trash C63 that has a unique front end that is from the CLK coupe to fit the V8. So if you look at a c55 and a c240 you can see the really long C55 nose. One of the most fun C Class. So reliable. You can just do whatever you want with it especially with LSD. Put over 300, 000 miles on one 😂 thank u! Very rare!

Am I the only one to think S203 wagon has better proportions than the W203 saloon? Same goes for the 211 and 204, IMO.
