Codex entry: Scientist Salarian, a parody of the Modern Major General song (humans Gilbert and Sullivan, 1879) was written in 2171 by famed Salarian lyricist and part time structural biologist Jokus Kirosa. The song was later featured as part of the 2183 inaugural gala celebrating humanity’s contributions to the galactic artistic community, where it was performed for the council alongside other classics like Francis Kitt’s All-Elcor Hamlet and Leonin Trebin’s musical comedy rendition of “Jaynestown”.

Singing the fastest verse while playing a steamdeck is maybe the greatest power move I've ever seen.

R.I.P. Mordin
You truly were the very model of a scientist salarian, but more importantly you were the very model of a good friend.

I'm Commander Shepard and this is my favourite orchestra on the Citadel!

Can we talk about how Will straight-up embodies Mordin for this entire video? Not just with the voice, but his speech, inflection, and mannerisms. He keeps his hands in the three-finger configuration the entire time and does Mordin's little throat clear at the very end. Absolute brilliant attention to character.

Just speechless. The iteration of Gilbert and Sullivan we didn't want, need, or deserve, and yet somehow...it still feels right.

The fact that the lyrics came from a fanfiction is kind of amazing.

You know, I NEVER in my life expected to hear an ENTIRE version of this when I played ME3 when it came out. What a time to be alive

For some reason, I picture Mordin conducting experiments and research while casually singing this to himself, but changing the lyrics while staying in tune as a mental exercise. He probably has countless iterations of this same song in his head.

Edit: Mental exercise, that was the term I was looking for when I first wrote this comment!

Enthusiastically appreciative: This was a very good song.
Respectful and honest: I especially love the parts where he thinks out loud in-character to come up with the next rhyme.

This gentleman looks like the person I would indeed pick to play a scientist Salarian.

This song is a testament to the fact that theatre kids and fanfic writers are inseparable allies.

In my school days I played in the pit orchestra for the school's production of Pirates of Penzance. Years later, while playing the Mass Effect games for the first time I found this reference to Gilbert and Sullivan in the game. I was so surprised I almost dropped my controller.

Well done to all involved in this performance. Great work.

It's incredible how deep the lore in this song goes. "I cut up more batarians than Torfan's famous butchering" refers to the battle of Torfan where the System Alliance anihilated the whole population of the pirate moon Torfan as retaliation of the Skylian Blitz.
That's one of the backstories of creating shepard in ME1... and i have absolutly forgotten about this until hearing this line.

Last time I heard this song, a man I knew and loved blew tf up saving the world. This performance does that man a great honor <3
