This is the first time I heard someone say start sewing on opposite ends. 👍

I just used a half jellyroll of metallic pinks with deep blue starry night Robert Kaufman as background to make storm at sea pattern using Jodi Barrows square in a square piecing method. I'm blown away how accurate and beautiful it is turning out.

I really had no idea Jelly Rolls were specific to Moda and the other lines used different names! What a fun fact for today!

I love precuts and especially jelly rolls! Great tip on lint rolling them. I agree the pet ones are the best! I measure mine before I start too! ❤ great video.

I've never bought a jelly roll because they are too expensive in Canada. For example, $74.99. I cut my own strips and love to make the patterns for jelly rolls

Those jelly roll holders are also great for storing spools of ribbon too.

I have bought solids as strips to use for borders and binding. But as mentioned very expensive compared to yardage so watch for sales. Using the scraps from strips are my to to for scrap quilts ( ie potato chips).

I have sometimes used leftover strips for binding small projects...works great when it coordinates well.

from Gerry- I just made Donna Jordan's adjustable jelly roll race quilt. Free pattern and video- love the results. The jelly roll bins are a great idea. Be blessed.

Great video!! I have one of the bins, that I bought on sale from MSQC. I love the idea of making my own jelly rolls from scrap fabric or yardage.

Oh wow, love that storage box. Have never seen them before. I have a feeling though that by the time they reach Australian shores the price would be I love jelly rolls too. In fact, funny you should have this video, as in November I am off to Bribie Island Retreat and I am making jelly roll placemats for Christmas presents. I have my spare jelly rolls folded up in a zip lock bag. They keep reasonable well in them but they get wrinkled. A proper storage box would be ideal. Loved this video Kris. I haven't forgotten you.

I do love jelly rolls and other precuts as they are very versatile and I like that you can get a piece of each design in the collection. What I don’t like is that as you say they don’t always evenly split the amount if the line has say only 20 prints you aren’t guaranteed to get 2 of each design. It’s also not easy to tell this by looking at them. Sometimes it’s easier to see what’s in a layer cake or charm pack from the same collection as they are usually made up of the same amounts of each fabric. I have seen a quilt made up with low volume fabrics and it actually looked really nice the design was really subtle and it almost looked faded by the sun giving it a lovely soft vintage look. I’ve found the 2.5” used to be to the valley now it’s usually to the top of the points. I do measure mine. Great tutorial, thanks for all the tips, the pet lint roller is a great idea.
