All the seniors in choir sing this song every year as a tradition as their goodbye song to everyone else. It’s very emotional. And I remember coming to high school and getting to know this tradition. I’m now a senior and will be singing it soon. The tears are already being held back

I remember singing this for a solo contest when I was in 8th grade. My middle school years were the best years I've seen so far

In the quiet misty morning
When the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing
And the sky is clear and red,
When the summer's ceased its gleaming
When the corn is past its prime,
When adventure's lost its meaning -
I'll be homeward bound in time
Bind me not to the pasture
Chain me not to the plow
Set me free to find my calling
And I'll return to you somehow
If you find it's me you're missing
If you're hoping I'll return,
To your thoughts I'll soon be listening,
And in the road I'll stop and turn
Then the wind will set me racing
As my journey nears its end
And the path I'll be retracing
When I'm homeward bound again
Bind me not to the pasture
Chain me not to the plow
Set me free to find my calling
And I'll return to you somehow
(softly)
In the quiet misty morning
When the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing
I'll be homeward bound again.

I am in my choirs class and we decided to preform this in a concert. One day when we were still learning the song my class and teacher was just joking about who soulless we all are and basically being really edgey. We then ran what we knew and my teacher was on the verge of tears. It was a good day

This song brings back so many memories, this is the first song I ever sang in a choir. It's only been 5 years since then but it feels like forever ago. This is and will remain one of my favorite songs of all time

This is my favorite song I did in all four years of highschool choir. It’s so so beautiful. I’m glad I found a version of it on YouTube.
