Yamaha reintroduces the VK540 to the North American market!

I lived/worked in the High Canadian Arctic ( Nunavut ) in the early to mid 2000's. I bought a used VK-540 III - it NEVER let me down, even in the worst conditions, and towing sleds etc. From -50c to spring hot weather, this beast was unreal. It was the Ugly Duckling - never gonna drive up to the Northern Store and impress women etc, but out on the land - it was simple, reliable and a 4X4 of Snowmobiles. The massive and wide track would get you through almost anything!....God I miss it!

Everybody wants speed, options, EFI, gadgets, big prices apparently.I'll take simplicity, longevity and easy maintenance.The VK's have stood the test of time.Should have kept the LT bravo also.

The 540 cc engine has been in production since 1977. Great Engine! Would like to see Yamaha bring back the old PZ 485 with the 540 engine and duel carbs, YES Bottle . And price to sale. We need a good intro adult sled.

Yamaha "The Power to Satisfy " amazing quality from the day it was first introduced and it's still going strong even with pogo stick front suspension. Some things just never die. Old proven technology, why change it .

I think buddy was disappointed that you were more interested in the VK than the sidewinder lol I'm with you on that one 4 stroke factory turbo not my thing but my old VK 540 iii has its place in my shed next to my 850 summit

I'm just waiting for next year. Now that Yamaha has their 4 strokes nailed they reintroduced a 2 stroke. I bet with their current technology they will introduce some sort of "e-tec" style 3 cylinder 2 stroke to pair with their genesis line.
