How to Install a Pedestal Sink and Faucet -- by Home Repair Tutor

Learn how to install a pedestal sink with this complete step-by-step video.

Is your bathroom a tad small?

Do you want to remodel your bath and are thinking of a pedestal sink?

Pedestal sinks are pretty affordable and can open up your space.

This video will show a beginner DIYer how to
-determine if the pedestal sink will work
-install a new faucet onto the sink
-mount the sink to the wall
-install all the plumbing without leaks

The first step is to buy a pedestal sink and make sure the cut-out in the pedestal fits the plumbing setup, i.e. P-Trap and shutoff valves.

Dry fit the sink onto the pedestal. Draw the hole positions of the sink on the wall.

Remove the sink and check if the hole positions are on a stud or wood blocking. If this is the case you can use lag screws to attach the sink to the wall. If you have just drywall you can use standard toggle bolts, although I recommend inserting wood into the wall and using lag screws.

Make sure all the plumbing connections are tight and leak proof. Especially the rubber gasket that seals the drain to the sink.

Dry fit the sink to the pedestal a second time and see if the drain is long enough to fit into the P-Trap. If it's not you have to put an extension tube on the drain. My video shows you all the details of how to do this

good video except for the fact that you skipped the hardest part which is mounting and securing the i only saw you drill two holes in the wall but i didn't see you attach the sink to the did you decide to just place the sink on the base and leave it like that)

Great video. Two things i noticed. You an use plumbers puddy under the drain flange instead of silicone caulk. For the drain bar, the drain bar goes in the middle of the clip. So installation goes clip, bar, clip.

It's a pretty good video. But for me, 2 critical steps missing. Finishing the P-trap installation and attaching the sink to the wall. With the limited work space, I'm looking to see how these 2 processes are actually accomplished.
