The Ohio Retro Gamer (TORG) Summit, held annually in Columbus, OH. While I was in town I figured I’d make the trip down to see what all the talk was about. This was the 4th in the line of many to come, as the convention has grown exponentially!

Awesome video Jeff! That's cool you got to meet up with Chris. Nice pickups too.

You know we're huge fans of Road Trips, man. We've gone to five or six in the last few months and each time connect with more and more people who dig what we're doing, and I can only imagine it was the same for you. I love my screen, but it's really fun to get out from behind it once in awhile and reinforce what it is about games & pop culture that inspire us to create. Wish I could've been there! Thanks for sharing. 😀

Nice, if you ever make it to Canada plan your trip around the Barrie Game Exchange!

So incredibly well put together. I loved this!! I wouldn’t feel bad about beating a little kid at a video game either!

Very thrifty! How close to a 64 set are you? It was awesome to see you hanging with cmretro.

I gamer's and collector's dream. It would be fiscally irresponsible for me to attend. Awesome recount and thanks for taking us along for the ride! Big thanks to CM Retro for holding the camera and your kids are internet stars in the making. You gotta think SMASH JT legacy!

SmashJT showing the Dreamcast some love 👌. Nice finds sir. I remember playing Evolution fondly with my bro. It's not a bad little RPG.

Make sure that Mario is secure in that car seat man. You don't want him flying out the window 😆.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. I need to try to hit up some game conventions myself one day. Looks like fun.

Dam, those ns4 games are in bad shape, is there a way to restore them?

Looks like a great con! I'm really surprise your player 2 came to Greenville while this was going on.

Those Dreamcast games were a nice addition to any Dreamcast Collection. I picked up Evolution 2 a little while back and never played the second part. Evolution 1 was great. How many N64 games are left for you to have a complete collection?

You should try to hit one of these cons out east next year. SEGE in Greenville, SC was awesome (and growing), and we're considering going to TooManyGames in Philly next summer (possibly RetroPalooza in Dallas as well). Btw, Evolution was a pretty legit RPG; used to play it all the time as a teenager. - Brian

very surprising to see they had arcades. i even saw street fighter alpha 1 from what i could tell. expanding the tables to include kids from high school who want to learn how a business works would be great. offer an incentive for any high schooler to open a table there with his gaming stuff he wants to sell rather than have to deal with ebay or a store trade-in. i see lots of potential here and getting more people involved would be great. there's just ONE major service these shows, especially LOCAL, can provide though: cleaning. some guy or girl should open a table and offer a console or game cleaning service. bring in your dirty or not working systems/carts and the person will open it and clean it inside out. it's a nice diversification of the gaming economy. anything to put people to work and move money in a society so everyone has something to contribute to a capitalist society.

Boo! Let your son win, but then again, after watching him play frogger, that may have been a challenge in of itself. XD

Tekken 3 is my jam!
Did either of you play as Gon?
He's such a fun character to troll with, not sure if he's in the arcade version though.

While events in my neck of the woods (KY-OH) aren't NEAR the size and scale of SDCC, they do have that "special something" that differentiates them from larger cons. Lines are shorter, the booths more intimate, and the folks you deal with are (usually) laid-back. I'm not one for thousands upon thousands of people in a small space (even the Lexington ComiCon is a little much for me), so I prefer cons like TORG for finding gems and enjoying old school games.

Come to think of it, there may be only five legit RPGs for the Sega Dreamcast. If that's true, I own four of them—Skies of Arcadia, Grandia II, Evolution and Evolution 2. (I have to double-check that last one, but I'm pretty sure I have both Evos). You scored a real find with Evolution: The World of Sacred Device. It's different than most RPGs of the day, with likeable characters, randomly generated dungeons, and a cute story. Goes without saying the music rocks.

Glad you got to experience life in our neck of the woods. Love those rolling corn stalks!! xD

Smash, look at the back of evolution on dreamcast. They spelled tobacco wrong on the ESRB rating!
