MY 3-DAY CROCHET MARKET WAS A FLOP | Recap of sales, rant, lessons learned | CROCHET VLOG

This was my first market as a crocheter, and I prepped for it for months! I was hoping to have better news to bring to my vlog, but let's face it; not every market is a huge success!

This was just my experience, and many of the other vendors expressed the same thoughts. But I promised a market day video, so here it is!

If you have questions about markets that you want me to answer, please let me know in the comments! I want to make more friends in the vendor space and I'd love to be a point of reference for others looking to do markets!

As always, a thumbs up, a subscribe, and a comment makes a huge difference in how many people see this video and anything helps me out!

Disclaimer: This was the first time this event was held in this town, and I in no way want to disparage the person who put the event on. Running an event successfully is very difficult and I'm sure she will be better next year!

Thanks so much for sharing this information. I'm going to be a coordinator with 3 other vendors. Advertising and marketing the events will be my number one priority. I will definitely be on site making sure all vendors have all of their needs ❤

You had a coordinator who was - at best, a total novice at her job or - at worst, one who was happy to pocket the money and put out little effort. When you said the phone number she gave everyone was a dead numbers, yeah. Sus. There's probably a lot of great coordinators out there to check out. You did a great job explaining what happened and it's good you posted this. I've heard some bad stories from other vendors, so it's good to do research on the coordinator(s). Also the demographics, and the venue. Better luck next time - your items are so cute!

Great video, glad you didn't let this experience get you down. I made a profit of $45 in my first market, it happens, even 2yrs later I had a bad market awhile back that was $75 profit.

I appreciate this so much! I'm doing my first vendor event in 2 weeks, and it gives me an idea what to expect. I know it'll be smaller (it's held for one day, 3 hours, every other week) but when I stopped by last weekend, out of 10 expected vendors, I only saw 4, and there were no shoppers. Three cars pulled in as I was leaving, so maybe the after-church foot traffic is better, but after hearing your experience, my expectations are way different. Thanks, and wishing you better luck at the next market!

How disappointing for you. I did my first two markets in the last 2 weeks. The first was okay, but the second did not go well. I totally understand how you are feeling. My next market is at the end of August. Fingers crossed that our next markets are better. One good thing that came out of this last market was that I was able to crochet more stock while I was sitting there. I brought several yarn colours and patterns with me, so my day was not a total waste of time. I will be going prepared to all future markets. I can't imagine what I would have done without something to keep me occupied!

It's in the air. You're the 7th person I have watched this week that had the same experience.

I know you are counting it as as flop and I don't know where you are located but in my book thats a win. I'm in kentucky and I do church fairs mostly. My last fair was on a Saturday. I drove and hour and a half to get there and made roughly 20.00 that whole day. And that's not my profit that was my total sales for the day. 9 am to 3 pm. That is a flop. I would consider yours a big win especially with the economy being the way it is. I do hope you do better at your next one though.

Hiya, yr channel just popped up on my notifications. It can be so disappointing I know, but u did so well to work with it, well done🎊. Yes! research on how well a market is advertised is key. I've been to markets where 3 other vendors did all crochet items too🤔 can b soul destrying really😊 Also what sells in one country won't sell in others at same price. All depends on several variables as u say cost of yr spot, travel, time spent, & items made. However when u hv a good market its wonderful when people enjoy our hand crafted items❣️ I've subscribed and hit the like button 🎉 Gloria.

What a mess. Lack of appropriate advertising is a real event killer. It sounds like there were a lot of unnecessary missteps (the bathroom situation was unforgivable). Like you said, nobody is going to come back next year either as a vendor or a participant. On the other hand, you now know what questions to ask the organizers before you commit to another event.

I only do markets in the fall and around Xmas now because the other times where I live suck.

$100 and then $85 sales would be called great sales at our smaller markets here

I hope you had a fun day despite the sales not being as high as you would have liked.
