EK totally destroyed my wife's hard suitcase in Nice, France. It had to be thrown out and EK wouldn't pay to replace it. I live in Dubai, and when we travel, I always carry my drone. I carry it in a hardcase, packed tightly in shaped foam, and then placed inside my softsided suitcase. It travels great and always works, but it takes up almost 30% of my suitcase. Casey should be fined for his antics.

This actually happened to me when I flew out of Bali with Singapore Airlines BUT Singapore Airlines handled it very differently. The ground staff was very understanding and instead of making me check in my drone, they personally brought the drone to the plane and handed it over to the cabin crew so they can store it onboard. Once we landed in Singapore, the cabin crew handed me my drone as I got off the plane. Now that’s SERVICE.

The fault is actually Casey's. He did the stupid stuff and ruined everything. Emirates is taking the blame now. And for the bag. Ground crew in different countries are from the country. They are not hired by the airlines. For example if Emirates flies to Germany then the ground crews are hired by Germany or Lufthansa.

If the airline accepts an fragile marked item for carriage, they automatically accept liability.

When I saw that video i literally shouted that he shouldnt do such a thing. Just because he is an established vlogger and emirates kinda take cares of him doesnt make him break the rules. People in comments were like yay you flew a drone but they didnt know that Casey has just screwed up many people's lives

Yes mate I totally understand your situation, hope @Emirates gets you a new drone. They should start accepting things rather than avoiding them.

Casey Neistat is THE most annoying character on YouTube EVER

Truly sucks that a huge airline like that manages and handles a situation like this. Also their response to a former employee as well. You worked for them and this is the service you get back. CRAZY. And the insane behavior of an almost 40-year-old Casey. You would think this behavior is something a teen would do onboard. I never thought Casey who is soon to be 40, would act this way. Crazy. Thanks for sharing this. I had no idea about this. Thanks for informing us. Knowledge and experiences of others are always informative. I am sorry that they messed up your drone and now you have to pay for it :-(

I’ve flown first and business on Emeritus and Qatar many times and found their service to be lacking in warmth, mediocre and robotic.

Just a few things:
1. I don’t mind watching Casey but even this is completely stupid, I don’t care which class you are in... completely stupid.
2. I don’t think that one incident would have caused Emirates to change their policy alone. Conventional wisdom would rather see electronic items be in the cabin, not in the hold unless the item is a security risk.
3. From the perspective of an aviation staff and passenger, never bother with fragile tags... pointless.
4. Most damage is done by machinery i.e. the belts, not people. Also you have to remember, humans in the chain have to handle 100s of bags an hour in such a way they are going to minimise injury to themselves. It’s not they don’t care totally. It also doesn’t help if people make their bag stupidly heavy or their bag is not standard... i.e. very big/heavy, overpacked where the catches/zips are hanging on for dear life, dangerous protrusions, etc.

I had my baggage wheels broken many times because of the recklessness and mishandling of baggage staff. It is not a problem until it becomes your problem. Well said

Baggage handlers are overworked, low paid staff, they are not treated with respect in many places, hence there is no much care put into handling baggage. I've never seen baggage handlers respecting peoples belongings. The best way to protect your items is by getting a steel box with ultra expensive locks, otherwise there is no guarantee how will your luggage look like at the other end or if everything will still be there...

I’m a ramp agent and to be honest fragile stickers don’t really mean anything. I’ve seen so many rampers just tossing bags.

I was working as a check in agent three years ago at Prague airport. I didn't do the check in for Emirates but every single airlines I was doing the check in has the same condition about drones. Which were that the passenger must to take the drone with him/her as a hand luggage but he/she must to take out the battery. That were the conditions other airlines and I believe that Emirates has the some conditions about drones. Try to contact handling agency, which is Menzies Aviation in case of Prague. I saw many times how rude and unprofessional can check in agent be, specially at Prague airport and I wouldn't be surprised if you unfortunately meet bad check in agent in Prague. Wish you best of luck to solve this problem...
