I like how unbiased you are, despite the fact that you bear the SNES's name.

Awesome! Herzog Zwei is my personal pick as the #1 Genesis game, hands down. It's as fun today as it was in 1990. It was this hidden gem we discovered through my friends uncle who simply bought everything for his kids. Nobody knew about this but us, and we battled each other constantly. It was one of those rare games that when you won, you genuinely felt you had not only outplayed, but outsmarted your opponent. 10/10 in my book.

Ok I am 32 years old and when I was a kid 8-9 years old I played this game where you play essentially as a mech that can combine with this motorcycle attachment on screen. I jave been trying to find this games title for the past 10 years or so with NO results. I was so young and I played it on Sega Channel I didn't bother remembering the games title cause I was deep into Comix Zone and Road Rash. The game catalog rotated as did the game and soon there after Sega Channel went offline and I was doomed to the wind of CHANCE that this channel mentioned it!!! Ranger X! Same as the game Crystalis for NES as that was the 1st game I ever played 5-6 years old on our family NES and I had forgotten the name of it until it was mentioned on a retro game channel similar to SNES Drunk. You have no idea what this means to me. Like and subbed! Thank you! 😢😓👏👏👏

excellent list. I grew to really appreciate the Genesis games as I got older. I used to have a SNES and my younger brother had a Genesis, but at the time I thought the SNES was plain superior. nowadays I really like a lot of the titles that were realeased for the Genesis. from this list I didn't know about Monster world 4, I will check it out. looks really nice.

I loved General Chaos! I hadn't seen an RTS before. I loved that it was one screen, small crew, and multi-player. So good. It would've been amazing with a mouse.

Herzog Zwei! I recently discovered that game by reading about the history of RTS in Wikipedia, it's a really cool game.
Also Dinosaurs for Hire looks really cool! Definitely gonna try it if only for the style.
I'm really glad you made another video of Genesis exclusives. It's ironic but I think your channel is a great source for Genesis recommendations.

Yeah herzog zwei. Hardly anyone mentions that. The 2 player mode is absolutely frantic.

I miss my Sega Genesis so much. I had many favorite games. Some of them were Toejam and Earl, Starflight, Eternal Champions, Cyborg Justice & MUSHA. God how I loved all those games! I would give anything to play current gen remakes of them.

Shaun here, thanks so much for this. Not only did you do the two main games I wanted, Herzog Zwei and Ranger X, but you managed to find a couple I knew very little about. Great stuff as always!

Dinosaurs for Hire was originally a comic series by Malibu. Not very good comics, have to say. But the game is sooo much fun. Very 16-bit hardcore.
And Monster Land 4 looks so

As someone who grew up with the snes only I'm left only to miss fantastic games like Forgotten Worlds, Strider, Musha, Truxton, Powerball, Beyond Oasis, Puyo Puyo Tsu and many many more. But fear not, Snes drunk: Turbografx 16 and its SPECTACULAR lineup was also missed by many ;(

Maybe we need some "Best TG-16 Games SNES Owners (and even some genesis owners, too) Missed Out On"

Glad you covered a ton of genesis games I grew up with. Genesis had a ton of great games that were often overlooked because everyone I knew had a super nintendo while I had a Genesis.

Great picks! After a few years looking for Herzog Zwei I finally found a poor shape copy for an ok price. Still getting used to the controls but it's awesome. If you ever felt so inclined, you could probably fill an entire episode of this with just shoot 'em ups.

Target Earth was probably the first fully sci-fi game I really loved back in the day (especially since I've been a high fantasy fan since I learned to read). I remember a school buddy of mine owned it and I couldn't borrow it enough in trying to complete it. I still play it once in a while to this day, but I realized that much of my love of the game stems from the anime-style art and characters it had. Turns out I have a huge weakness for that stuff, especially since I discovered anime five years after Target Earth came out. :)

I actually had lots of fun with General Chaos, though my friends weren't as big on it as I was at the time. I am more of a Tactical RPG kind of guy, but General Chaos's distinct brand of humor and unique gameplay (at the time) gave me something new to play for a summer.

I owned Chiki Chiki Boys, strangely enough, but I never got around to actually finishing it since I wasn't all that impressed by it.

Road Rash... ah, man. How many hours did I spend playing Road Rash 2 and 3 with one of my best friends... I think we actually managed to put in more time in the second game even though the third one is much better in many ways, to be honest. Road Rash actually led me to Skitchin', which isn't as good, but still pretty entertaining if you have a friend, two controllers, and some time to kill. :)

Herzog Zwei was an incredible game and probably the first real real time strategy game and also has elements of being the first pass at multiplayer battle arena. the game is quite fun even if you can see your opponent on the split screen.

Ranger-X I think pushed the limits of the Genesis color pallete past what was intended. It looks more like a Super Nintendo game than most Genesis games do.

I love me some General Chaos. Where is that remake/sequel?
