That's not what we used to call, and still do in my case, an alter ego though. An actual alter ego is part of a dissociated mind, in which the alter and the 'normal' are separated, dissociated, and the 'normal' usually does not remember what the alter did. What the voice in the video talks about is just character/personality/persona forging over time and habits, I believe.
