We install a eco battery 48 volt 72 amp hour golf cart battery conversion kit into a club car ds. What a Difference. Cart gained 3 mph with factory motor and controller. This eco lithium battery really woke the cart up. Take off and power thought the drive is impressive! We love these batteries so we thought we would give you a little install video on the conversion.
These kits are available at our website!

We start by taking the old batteries out. You will not need the wires that connect each battery. You will only use the main negative and positive battery cables for this install. The battery hold down brackets you can toss to the side as well. Remove all batteries. Take out old charging port and replace with new style extension cord charger if you wish to do so. ( you do not have to do this but makes for a clean install.) Now place the battery into the cart. Next we will run our gauge to the dash. There are some tips for mounting the battery gauge in the video. 48v to 12v reducer. Yellow is Main power. Black wire with eyelid is main ground.
Red and black wires go to 12v wiring. Connect all positive and negative wires (battery charger, 48v to 12v reducer, and main power wires to cart). Before reinstalling everything check to make sure the cart runs and accessories turn on. If all is good reinstall everything.

Any question on this install please comment and we will respond to help you the best we can. Also if you are looking for these batteries we sell and ship nation wide.

Great Job explaining with the exception of you needing a dedicated fuse in the circuit for the headlights. Depending on the light kit usually 15-20a. With one single 12v output it’s best to run main output that to a marine grade fuse box so each accessory can be fused appropriately and you can add more than one later if needed. That converter has a main unit fuse and not for the accessories as they will be different sizes depending on what your installing. I know it’s possible that the headlight wiring had the inline fuse in there and if that’s the case and the only accessory then you are ok but might want to explain that to an audience that’s unaware and that this kit is single output and their options.
It’s also best to cover those open areas of the cart to keep water and debris out and mount the charger and inverter etc to a heat sink slightly above the decking you use for air flow and ventilation. Yes this cost more money and time but worth it for the customer. I just completed same battery and install on cart and this info I’m sure is helpful for a DIY person so overall great job guys as I know it’s a lot of info to cover.

Just a helpful comment on an issue i ran into that none of these install videos mentioned for a pre 2000 club car ds with resistor. When removing the oem charging port a wire from the v glide to the charging port will be unhooked which will prevent the cart from moving forward and backward. If you connect that wire from the v glide directly to the negative side of the lithium battery it will solve that issue. Hope this helps at least one person because apparently i was the first person to ever run into this issue on the history of the internet 😅

So I get the principle of the bypass of the OBC, but on my 2001, I have a 3 prong connector coming from my OBC, with yellow, red and brown wire, but no blue and white wire. I've scoured the internet looking for a how to bypass this type of OBC plug, to no avail. Please help!!

I understand the main ground wire that runs thru the OBC needs to be cut and put in the negative. But what do I with the other black wire. Also do I connect the blue and white wire together?

Did you actually get this cart running after you removed the OBC? If so, how?

1998-99 club car DS 48-volt lithium conversion - What wiring must remain, such as the Wiper Switch Assembly, . . removed onboard computer, right? but that is a little confusing when some vital components are needed.. . . etc? so what would regulate voltage for speed?

Wonder if the additional mph due to the decreased weight and added acceleration due to full charged power unit?

How long will this 72amp battery last on a single charge? Should you power off the battery (through battery on/off button) when finished riding cart?

With those connectors with the unsealed backs, you can fill them up with dialectic grease it’ll keep the water out

I have one blue wire coming from the front which I am guessing is the key switch. Does this just go to the positive on the converter? I am using a fuse panel so what size fuse should I put for that one? As well should I use a 20amp fuse for the headlights?

Do you think the 75 amp hour would be a good choice with upgraded motor and controller on a DS series?

Can I leave the OBC in place and not do the bypass? Will it still charge and run properly?

Do you find that ECO 72 AH ok for your club car or do I need to get a 105 AH?

From a range perspective that 72AH should be similar to a conventional 48V pack discharging to 50%
