#469 Merge & split table cells

Another "it's only easy if you know it" tip for today. An academic asked me today how to do this and so it seems likely that this is something other people are also unsure how to merge and split cells in a table. This can really make your table much easier to read, and is very useful for creating a lovely clear schedule (as this academic was).
