777 Forced to Land in Russia

Correction:
There wasn’t an actual fire in the cargo hold, it was just a false indication. Multiple 777s have had to divert due to similar occurrences. After landing, no traces of fire or smoke could be found.

I saw this plane on flight radar. It was squawked 7700 and it was #1 worldwide. I didn’t know it would be that dangerous

Fun fact: the 777:300er replacement plane was painted in the star alliance livery! The plane also did not continue to San Francisco but went to Mumbai, not even New Delhi!

I was in that flight for my return to San Francisco from delhi. I had a vacation to see my grandparents and cousins after 10 years. They changed the plane for us and we had visa problems. I’m not lying. Landed safely in San Francisco(home).

This feels very similar to an air India incident last year. An Air India 777-200LR was operating a flight from Delhi to San Francisco, (same flight as this one) had to divert to Magadan (also in Russia) due to a technical issue. Unlike this time when the passengers were stranded in Krasnoyarsk for one day, the other passengers in Magadan were stranded for a few days. Both flights later made it to SFO.
