When the horn section of this song kicks in, it always brings me to tears. Its so airy, and reminds me of a bumble bee in flight. This song is right up there with Dire Straits "Money For Nothing". Iconic. One lick and you know instantly youre hearing a masterpiece that defies time.

I am 80. I have played this track over and over since Chic first released it in I think 1977. I just cannot get enough of it. I love it when the horn section kicks in. It has got this tremendous urban vibe. I get the same feelings when I listen to some old Earth Wind and Fire tracks. There are some subtle differences in the many versions out there and I like all of them. Nile Rodgers seems like such a decent human being. This is real music played by real musicians and not all that other junk that is out there,

I don't know if it's hayfever or lockdown but this had me in tears by the end. Long live Disco.

Nile Rodgers dreamt every single note of this bittersweet lament about an unrequited love. He claims that it’s the only song he’s ever dreamt note-for-note.

Rodgers recalled : “I used to sleep with score paper next to the bed, and I wrote out the whole score paper […], and I wrote out the whole score the next day. We went in and played what I dreamt.”

He added : “The only thing that appears on the record that I didn’t dream was when the horns come in, I put the strings up an octave. That was the idea of the concert master. He said, ‘Nile, since we’re going this long amount of time, why don’t the strings up an octave for the second part?’ We tried it in the studio and it sounded great.”

Originally intended for Sister Sledge, “I Want Your Love” (1979) was eventually audiotaped as a follow-up to Chic’s hit single “Le Freak” (1978).

In 2015, Lady Gaga released this with Nike Rodgers for a campaign for the designer Tom Ford. 💙🎶💜

This song will never get old.. because it's a real song with real singers and musicians.. not some carefully choreographed track in a studio where people use modulated voice overs to make them sound good!
