If you can find it, the sketch they did with the most famous orchestra conductor of the day, Andre Previn, was a classic. They had major stars on their shows and took them out of their comfort zone. You were a nobody until you made at least one appearance on one of their shows.

Morecambe and Wise were comedy gold. Anyone who remembers British TV in the 70's will remember just how popular they were. It was 'must watch' viewing.

Hi Tysheen, in case you are unaware, the tall gentleman (robber) is Eric Morecambe, the comic of the duo. The other gentleman (Bank clerk) is Ernie Wise, the straight man of the duo. Eric often used to make a sudden movement when someone was behind him, to suggest someone had goosed him & look accusingly at them.

When the population was around 56 Million in The UK they were getting audiences up to 28 Million i.e.HALF of the UK population watching them :)
For a complete change: For your Football (soccer) fans you could watch "England's funniest Chants" or " Ultras Greatest Chants Volumes 1 and 3, in particular, " or the 10 minutes of "Ultras-Our Way Of Life-10, 000 Subscribers" which is quite an eye-opener :)

Eric would always make fun of Ernie about his diminutive height and his wig.
"Four eyes" was Ernie's stock way of having a dig at Eric.
Don't know if "four eyes" was just a British expression. I remember it being really common back in the 60s and 70s.

Eric Morecambe with the spectacles, and Ernie Wise, grey hair. At their peak, they commanded some of the biggest viewing figures of the time. Eric, always the joker, Ernie, the straight (comedian) guy. Look out for their Breakfast sketch, a dance routine to stripper music, comedy gold. Oh, and yeah, I caught the intro change, cool.

You shouldn't make fun of men with receding hairlines and specs. My dad was one and, despite being five years and two days younger, was often mistaken for Eric Morecambe. He also died relatively young, like the late comic. But he did look after the money better...
