I think there's another side to this, where, at this point in the season, Drake Maye can understand where this team is at, and there will be much less pressure on him to perform, while also gaining that starter experience

I think it’s a mistake to have him play behind arguably the worst O line in football, but the Patriots probably looked at Caleb Williams and Jayden Daniel’s success and said, “na you gotta get out there too and show us why we drafted you”. 😅

Pats are closer to being 3-2 than people want to admit. Seattle and Miami were extremely tight with tough luck.

I really don’t understand all the pats fans saying to sit him for the season. Give the kid a chance to play and get some experience. The team can’t be any worse so let’s see if he adds some juice to the offense and have something to go off of for next year

Pats fan….the timing is weird for me…I was hoping he’d sit until after our Bye week and play the last 4 games of the season in December….2 of those being against the Bills. And that way he’d have a bye week to get ready/get some momentum for next year. But this is cool too!!!

I also think you’re all forgetting the biggest point that most these QBs who did this had elite QBs in front of them so they were actually learning….

wtf is maye learning from Brisset. How to not throw a deep ball to open targets, how to piss off the entire locker room to a point where they are thanking the coach for starting maye.

Nothing good comes from waiting and we shoulda known this as a team it’s a massive oversight, just like every other rookie QB this year he shoulda started day one….

I get the reluctance that people have towards putting Drake Maye in thinking it could ruin him, but cmon if he gets ruined because he can’t handle some pressure on snaps and he can’t make throws out of the pocket then he wouldn’t have been good either way

Here is the problem I have with the decision: if the infrastructure was not good enough for starting Maye to be beneficial for his development in week one, what has changed in a positive manner in that equation? Patience doesn't mean patience for 5 weeks and then freak out. If the team is saying that the plan for Maye was bad based off of new data, fine. But you don't develop good traits in a young QB in a trash situation. So I'm not sure what has changed, but this feels like a disaster. And guess what? If NE goes out and loses another 12 games with Brissett... good. This is a lost season. Worst thing that can happen is to claw back to, like, 7-10 and ruin the draft pick.
