My brother named my niece, Bonnie Jean. He loves this song. She is now 53 yrs old. We called her Bonnie Jean when she was younger, now most people call her Jean. For me and my girls she's still and always be Bonnie Jean.😊

He invited me to his apartment with several with the Homebuilders Gemcraft. I knew he had 2 Gold records, 1 from Hair, on his office wall; but, I thought it was from writing the songs as he had the slightest lisp in his voice..& never heard of a Jim/James Wofford (I was a Beach Boy/Momma & Papa’s fan as a kid & rock thereafter. We had drinks….then he grabbed his guitar and sang this song. I said “OMG, you sound like Oliver”. He said “Oliver is my middle name”. A lovely moment in time, though I was quite embarrassed w/a straight face. Just imagine someone you somewhat know was a star. Ya can see him in the Ed Sullivan show which always had a star singer on every show. So sad he left us at an early age.

The fall of 69 was a great time; I met the love of my life!!!
I was on top of the world!!!
But in the spring of 70, it all came crashing in. She was going away to college that year and she didn't want to be tied down and told me we were through...😱
😳🥺😭💔💔
I survived, but never fully recovered...
This song keeps bringing it all back!!!

Some songs invoke happy memories and can be uplifting no matter what is going on in life. This is one of those songs.

A beautiful song and video! "Jean" was Oliver's biggest hit, charting at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Adult Contemporary chart. Written by Rod McKuen.

I remember listening to this as a young kid in the late 70's riding in my moms car through town, or when she picked me up from school. AM 1140 radio.
