With BJP suffering a major setback in Uttar Pradesh, there is much debate about what went wrong during the Lok Sabha election campaign. Watch episode 1484 of #CutTheClutter, where Editor-in-Chief @ShekharGupta talks about the divided opinions, Opposition's reaction and what it means for BJP in the state

Wait..so they throw out the suggestions by Yogi for ticket distribution and then blame him for the loss??? Its time to think past Modi, how long can he pull the party? They are more concerned about maintianing the his image, while he stays in his ivory tower and has lost ground connect with people, they have not done any critical analysis on why they lost instead looking for scapegoats, the 400par probably cost a lot of seats. If at all Yogi is targetted, he will grow even bigger than Modi. Shah is proving to be a problematic individual, they will loose MH and Haryana badly because of what they did, and we saw what happened in K'taka, Shah's thinking is if you have a hammer every problem looks like a nail.

BJP performed well in Yogi Adityanath fiefdom of Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, Kushinagar, Deoria, Bansgaon, whereas it lost in Keshav Prasad Maurya's region of Allahabad, Kaushambi, Barabanki, Pratapgarh. Speaks volume of his status as tall leader😂

We want Yogi Ji as PM in 2029, that is the only way BJP can come back to power. No more sabka sath sabka vikas.

BJP loss is perhaps due to over-confidence, issues with RSS, repeating candidates (in Delhi they changed candidates for 6 out of 7, won all despite opposition alliance third time), opposition charge of changing constitution stuck over 400 par (which was very counter productive), some internal struggle perhaps. It's hard to win another great victory after winning 4 elections in the past (2024, 2017, 2019, 2022). Given the bi-polar nature of UP election (where BSP is relegated to poor third), it's unlikely, any further slip in UP for BJP unless they themselves make more mistakes, which I think is unlikely. Anyway, it a good wake up call for BJP ahead of 2027 and 2029 to be on toes and not take victory for granted

Why is BJP in self denial mode ?

I am aghast at their attitude. It always pays to remain humble in defeat .

Only Eknath Shinde of Maharashtra mentioned the loss of seats during Modi ji’s last trip to Mumbai in his presence.

Seems Maharashtra rumbling will begin shortly .

As mentioned by you rumblings have already started in WB by Shuvendu Adhikari .

Shekhar's logic is that assembly election results sometime in the future will be a reflection of past lok-sabha election result and momentum built today will last for 3 years is ati adhbut. Dilli and Telangana say Hi...

It's time BJP plan for its future. Whether you like it or not Modiji is not getting any youngers, he's in the final phase of his political innings. Who else is better suited to be the next PM than Yogiji? Like Modiji he's been CM for a while, he's second most popular BJP leader after Modiji himself, even more than Amit Shah. If BJP wants to stay in Power at UP and centre, solution is simple - announce Yogiji as thr successor.

AT 09:00, BJP went down from 312 to 255 which is a drop of 57 seats and not 67 seats as mentioned

I am not a political expert but I feel that KPM, who couldn’t win his assembly seat was being propped up by HM to counter Yogi, who was becoming too popular for HM’s comfort. This isn’t the BJP of Vajpayee- Advani era ( remember when Vajpayee lost majority by one vote but refused to bargain).Ethics are different now. And while corroded values gave BJP many gains, it’s coming back to haunt them.

Yogi is only person who might have more pull than modi ... Because some people don't like Modi's too much secularism and yogi is hardliner so in state election yogi might show better results

What goes up must come down. Bulldozer Baba was getting too big for his boot. He was never too popular amongst his peers. He largely depended on the bureaucrats to carry out his Tanasahi firman, and even had to import a Gujrati official turned politician to buttress his high-handed position in the administration/party. Now the dissenters got the opportunity to open rebellion because of his bad performance in the election.

Opinions of people who can't even win their own MLA seat are irrelevant and do not warrant a lot of air time.

I start a video as the topics are interesting but end up leaving mid way but shekhar ends up making a hash of everything.

Shekhar instead of going impromptu why don’t you script it properly. You keep going round n round. All your videos can be at least 50% shorter and way more crisper !!

It is not ko maurya but that con amit shah who is no so unsecured with yogi trying to undermine him but in UP, yogi is far more popular than even modi, he is the future of bjp, they won't dare to remove if they do that will be end of bjp in state as well as nationally, maurya need to go whether back to organisation or in centre, for 2027 yogi should have free hand, bjp can't lose their only hope for future, they have already undermined strong leaders like Raje, shivraj and fadnavis, they can't loose yogi at any cost

Modi should leave a BJP that’s strong enough even after he is gone out of the picture.
His actions clearly show he wants to be remembered as the most popular Indian/BJP PM.
These machinations of not letting the local leadership develop will hurt the BJP pretty hard.
