Voting percentage means a lot. One section of the population is always united and vote in large numbers against BJP. BJP overconfidence messed up.

We are missing one point here. While on the hustings, what did we hear from all and sundry? Sheer arrogance. They just expected to win with no ground work in UP. Trust me, in Faizabad (Ayodhya is part of it) there are 20% Muslims, 80% Hindus. Govt has pumped in roughly 85, 000 crores (USD 10+ billion dollars) in infrastructure, and modern roads, airports and railways stations, ghats etc have come up. That apart, there are humdreds of investors there now, and its so intense that the real estate prices have more than tripled in many places for hotels and service industey. And yet.... BJP LOSES FROM FAIZABAD? There is the story of arrogance. No canvassing at all. Can we imagine that even Modi ji was trailing from Varanasi? pathetic showing...all because of this, and one more reason.
When Yogi ji asked Amit Shah ji not to give tickets to non-BJP candidates, his advise was ignored. Result? only 3 off the 34 have won. BJP lost 24 seats in UP alone.
Introspection is a must and BJP should be ruthless in its politics if they wish to win the next term.

Bringing Ajit Pawar in to NDA dented its non corrupt image in Maharashtra and resulted in loosing 10 to 12 seats.

Across UP 4 to 5 % voting percentage was less which affected BJP ' prospects badly while Muslims voted against NDA in block across UP. It is sad that people of UP still didn't care for development and vote on the lines of religion and caste
