despite all the controversies, we need to admit that min hee jin is an actual genius. she's the backbone of newjeans' success right now. but, i really hoping that the members will shine more on their own and involving more in the creativity of making their music in the future. goodluck for the girls!

What makes them stand out aren't their personalities or their charisma, vocal or dance skills (all of which are still good), but their musical quality & production and Min Hee Jin's direction. No matter what you think about her after the Cookie incident, she was one of the main reason behind SM's success in 2nd and 3rd Gen and her absence is the main reason of the relativ lack of success of SM in the 4th Gen (relativ as to where the group's general popularity is compared to other groups from that generation). Hybe giving her the shot to do a group right absolutely payed off and at this point I can only imagine her diving more into partially directing some HYBE's other groups. As a boy group stan, I couldn't be happier about GGs being so strong recently as the key difference is that their musical output is of way higher quality than that noisy/experimental/"hype" (in general overloaded) crap BGs are putting out in the last 1, 5 years. I just hope with this trend in popularity the importance of the actual music will rise in K-Pop again and if it happens I know who to thank for it.

I've never been invested in kpop until NewJeans. Everything about them is refreshing and honest and it makes you feel good. Their songs, their choreographies, the way the carry themselves and interact with each other are all unassuming and innocent that every time you watch them you can't help but smile. Their music is such a vibe that it takes you to place of comfort that you'll just realize that you've been listening to the same song over and over but you wont dare make it stop. I love newjeans and I will always root for them.

New Jeans became so successful because of their natural talent, their concepts are fresh and their style is cool and appealing, they are likeable girls with genuine friendships and a love for what they do, they create great music and dance, their personalities are fun not to mention they are with the best company Hybe who have found something special with this girl group, they have invested a lot into them, nutured their talents, supported them and have steered them to amazing success that will continue

Honestly, “Hype Boy” literally gave me goosebumps and I completely agree with Key and Dara.. as a person that came into kpop fandom in 2nd Generation hearing Hype Boy reminded me of the freshness and feelings I got when I first got into kpop. It was nostalgic to me. I also love OMG and Ditto. I’m so excited of their future comebacks.

i remember getting a youtube recommendation for attention and watching it without expectation and INSTANTLY being blown away. its in the air around them, its electric, an aura. besides all of them being absolutely gorgeous they actually shine and shimmer. truly like fairies and their hair was like a gorgeous 6th member (i wish they never changed that) but anyway, they will be legendary even if they quit now but this is JUST the beginning. so excited to witness everything they achieve <3 <3 <3

I think one major factor that hasn’t been mentioned is that they feel so ORGANIC. It’s been said that they feel more like a group of friends having fun rather than a group of idols doing a job. There are many factors that contribute to this.

One of these factors is that they are encouraged to be themselves and to express themselves in their work. They have a huge amount of autonomy over their work compared to other groups as evidenced by actually being credited for cowriting their songs. I.E. Hanni being credited for Hypeboy and OMG, Dani being credited for Attention, and Minji being credited for Ditto. They’re also encouraged to participate in the creation of choreography. It’s quite shocking just how much say they have, especially compared to other groups. In their KBS Kpop interview (YouTube link below), they are shown practicing while inputting their own thoughts into the dance. It’s quite astonishing. They also had a long meeting and created their own fan chant. They have ownership over their own art and it’s felt through everything they do.

They’re also encouraged to be themselves off stage as well. It feels like they have less of a filter. I believe Dani and Hanni’s background/upbringing plays a role in this vibe as well. They are very bubbly, energetic, charismatic, and expressive. It rubs off on the other members and makes everything feel sooo.. ORGANIC.

I think the marketing of New Jeans is smart and refreshing. I think they’re going back to the “girl next-door” with how their make-up is being done and the way they are being dressed. Nostalgia is a strong feeling for many. Now, this doesn’t mean I don’t think they deserve the hype- no, it’s well-deserved. I love new jeans more then le seerafim but still can’t stan the girls individually. Group, yes, but individual nope nope nope lol 😂

One thing I love is how easy is to sing their songs and follow their choreography.
The quality of their songs and lyrics is good, they do sound fresh and remind me of the second gen kpop I fell in love with without sounding exactly like a second gen group. They are very approachable in their style too. And they seem to have focus and direction, there has been progression from Attention to OMG but you know you are listening to a NewJeans song right away.

Their timing is perfect. It's kinda monotonous now for the 4th gen. Same focus, same concept and then they came with that fresh y2k teen concept and their styling and dancing all look so natural. They just established themselves in such a saturated market by simply being themselves. They're one of my most favourite groups despite 20 years being a fan of kpop. Idk they just have the right balance of everything and it's hard not to love them. Waiting for more songs from them in the future ❤

New Jeans is such an incredible group, every song has been super addicting to listen to. It was also really great to see how well they perform on stage. Usually debuts are a bit stiff and they get better over time, but they started strong like seasoned professionals. Also their playfulness on stage when they smile and laugh together is what sets them above many for me personally. Their on-stage chemistry is wonderful and they still fully kill the choreo the whole time. I might be a big fan of them since I get the same feeling watching them now as I did with the early days of BTS of even later on with boys with fun. Having fun on stage but not taking away from the song + dance. Great atmosphere. Choreography is something I always look forward to but how they perform is really a next level for me. All naturally talented, great music, great stage presence, great dancing and overall a joy to watch/support :’)
