Hey all, I’m Davi Peña, the writer and director of Eyes of Eidolon. Really excited to have this film apart of the Alter community and am both excited and nervous to have this film screen to an audience this large! Please feel free to ask me any questions on this cryptic and unconventional tale of grief, I’d love to engage with all of you as much as I can!

Wow, this is truly haunting! Darkly beautiful and I was really pulled into the mans world of guilt, loneliness and despair. Amazing work!

This is the kind of film that makes me want to drop everything to pursue filmmaking

The water at the end looked like it was being reversed, as if, he would get back out of the lake and is forever trapped in a loop. The man said to him "I bought you a memory". The last memory he had with her, the day/night she died. A prison created from his own guilt. Brilliant cinematography and faded colouring really add to the emotional distress of the main character.

I didn't understand entirely what this film tried to tell me, although oddly it also made absolutely perfect sense.
It's like I was just an impaired passenger while my subconscious and the film interacted.
Only I know my own life inside and out, but this production seemed to be made by someone who knows me better than a lover.
I don't know whether I feel violated or complemented - but the experience couldn't have been more intimate while at the same time being so provocatively horrific.
I'm torn about this stunning film and what it means to me, but I can't doubt the genius behind its making.
If this inimitable and fluent style of film-making is a taste of things to come, then the future of film entertainment will have come into its own in a way I've never quite been fortunate enough to have seen before.

Bravo. We demand more.

The ending escaped me. The acting was superb! Ominous throughout. And there are good memories and horrifying ones.

This transcends horror and enters the stark reality of addiction and the survivors of lost addicts. Poignant and sorrowful. A dark masterpiece

This is both beautiful and sad. I also think it is nicely layered.
The beginning definition of eidolon was appreciated and I love how both meaning were incorporated into the film.
Clearly he idolized his wife and then he has the vision ofcthe two phantoms.
Here is my take, Alexander is composing a melancholy piece in memory of his wife who seemingly passed from an accidental drug overdose. My guess is heroin.
Alexader does not seem to be coping well. He is in grief and may even blame himself for her death.
Alexander then experiences the two spirits. The dark spirit I see as an impartial messenger and the gaunt spirt I see as a future self of Alexander if he continues on his path of drug use. I lovedcthat communication with the spirits was telepathic in nature. This was a great and creative call.
The gift was two fold to me. Positive memories and a warning.
I first saw the ending as he threw some of his sheet music into the water symbolizing that he is moving on. Uoon a second and third viewing, I now see it as he drowned himself.
The contrasting light was so gorgeous and well done and fit the story perfectly.
I find that the room with the piano interesting. It is sparse with nothing but the piano. I think this represents how his music no longer has the same power for him.
I enjoyed this film. Depression and grief are powerful topics with many lessons.
Thanks to David Pena and everyone involved in this work. Great work to all.
Peace.

It's a modern-day silent film, sheer atmosphere, such horrendous guilt and grief in Alexander. He and his lover were both shooting up, and she happened to OD. So they were partners in love all the way to death. The imagery, colors, soundtrack and music, light and its movement all made for a frightening yet absorbing, mainly interior film. I couldn't peel my eyes away.

A Beautiful and Haunting Masterpiece! *I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!* 👍🏾👍🏾 I would love to see a full length film in this very unique filmmaking style! And I love the 4:3 aspect ratio and film grain in this. Great Work, Davi Pena and team!!! Thank you, and thank you, ALTER. 💗

Very beautifully filmed, emotional, I see his guilt, loss, and the destruction of body, soul and life due to heroin. Nice work & I would enjoy seeing more of it! 👍 ALTER is a great provider of fantastic films.
