I think the only reason he didn’t win was because the voters didn’t like his game. Saying stuff like you can’t win a championship playing like that.

The video explains why Steph should've won.

The reason he didn't, and Iggy did is all about the actual voters.

11 media people voted for that award. Half of them never played or even coached in the NBA, or any professional basketball.

There's something you can't learn by re-watching the games and that's the actual narratives the media was telling during that series.

The way I remember it, their favorite narrative was Kerr listening to a video assistant and changing the starting lineup in the middle of the series. The real story might have been more nuanced (changing the actual defensive strategy, as the video shows, and Iggy being better at calling for those double teams), but for the reporters telling those stories, that was just too complicated. Much easier to say an assistant said start Iggy and Kerr listened and look, they just keep winning.

7 of those 11 media people went with that narrative and voted for Andre, the other 4 voted for Lebron.

It's ridiculous the media that gets those votes wrong then spends the rest of time pretending it wasn't them that got it wrong.

If the Warriors win, they'll give Steph the FMVP and have new narratives for the next few months about how Steph was finally able to win it because he finally showed up to a finals series.

It's all dumb and NBA fans should realize who votes, how clueless they are about basketball, and why these awards shouldn't count towards anything.

If you gonna argue that iggy deserved the FMVP over curry, fine, just argue that Shawn Marion deserved it over dirk in 2011 first, cause it’s the same arguments

I remember a couple weeks back I looked up some Reddit posts on people that thought Andre deserved the Finals MVP and it was wild. Some had good points, but Steph literally did so much more than him. The fact Steph didn’t get one vote was just so disappointing at the time and especially now.

This a perfect example of why us as fans should not over-value awards..they literally robbed this man, and he’s stuck catching shit from casuals because of some other peoples mistake

THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I've been saying this same thing for both sides since 2015. People love to forget what really be happening in these kind of series

Steph didn't receive a single vote in those finals?? Please tell me those ppl who did the voting that year aren't still allowed to vote on this 🙄😒🤨

Haven’t heard this perspective about Steph winning Finals MVP that year. Thank you for breaking this down for us LOW.

I would argue he deserved the 2018 Finals MVP. I know KD had the better overall averages but the thing is thats only because of one outlier game which was game 3 where KD was all time great and Steph was all time bad. Besides that one game, Steph was the better player in games 1, 2, and 4, the averages are very skewed cuz of one game.

About God damn time you did this video. Been waiting on it for two years now. I still remember watching these finals and getting pissed that Curry didn't win Finals MVP. Still doesn't make sense to me to this day.

Great thing about Steph is that he probably already knew all this and didn't care because they won.

"Delly clamped though" lol this just brings to light how both teams really had defenders who "shut down" number one options and the false narratives being pushed about each of them

Finally LOW. Steph Curry's eruption in G5 should've sealed it. But the media narrative went against him.

I was upset at the time. Literally the one time the award could have been given to the most impactful player without focusing on stats, they gave it to someone with "narrative value". I respect Iguodala's achievement all the same, but he was not the most impactful. Steph was the Finals MVP. He was the most impactful arguably in almost all the runs. If he wasn't there, would they win?

Thank you for saying this, because Steph should have two Finals MVP awards. He also deserved it in '18.

Commenting before I watch the video, but I think it’s because the NBA was still relunctant to recognize Steph as all all time great yet and didn’t want him to be, so they snubbed him for the award. But Steph kept dominating and now it’s undeniable how great he is and how deserving he is of at least ONE finals MVP by now.

The 2015 Finals was my introduction to Steph Curry. I was astonished by that man shooting from practically everywhere on the court, hitting timely 3s left and right. I didn't even watch the postgame to game 6 because I knew Steph was going to win FMVP...then they gave it to Iggy

I been saying this in my circle for the longest time. Thanks for putting more context to it. Love your videos.

Honestly thought he had a few bad games in 2015 before watching this vid. No wonder his efficiency was worse than his regular season/playoff numbers that year which is probably why people think he underperformed that series. Curry really lost out on two FMVPs just coz he had a single horrible game in 2015 and 2018 lmao.
