Unlike disney movies, Don Bluth is the first to have an animated movie focus on a mother. Honestly. She’s been through a lot as she discovers what happened to her husband, the rats and saving her family

So glad I grew up with Don Bluth's movies. Such an incredible animator. Wish I could meet him, I'd have so many questions for him.

Even back when I was a kid, I’ve always been mesmerized by Don Bluth’s signature animation. Some of the films were a part of my childhood and teenage years. Dragon’s Lair was even a fun game to play.

i grew up on both Disney and Don Bluth animated movies (and shown then all to my niece) and love them both, but Don Bluth ones always had that special touch that made them stand out. they were unlike Disney ones and dealt with issues in both animation and story in a different way, more realistic and hard-hitting without compromising being heartwarming and heartbreaking at the same time.
i still to this day rewatch my favourites which are The Land Before Time, The Secret of NIMH, , Rock-a-Doodle & All Dogs go to Heaven.

I tip my hat to Don Bluth that he came on to collaborate for this video. He’s one of my idols who helped to develop my interest in animated movies. Without him, I would not be enjoying modern animated films/series like Zootopia and Helluva Boss like I do today.

I was a Bluth kid over Disney. The Land Before Time came out in the middle of my dinosaur phase and it was my top favorite for years. Something about his movies just always got to me in a way Disney animations never did, perhaps it was because they got a little more dark and scary.
I had the privilege of meeting Don Bluth when I was in art school in 2001/2002. He came to give a presentation and afterward I got to shake his hand and had him sign my vhs of The Secret of Nimh. Looking back that was truly something special that our school arranged that for us!

I hope they release the uncut version of “the land before time” someday.

The Hell scene from All Dogs go to Heaven and the Drej from Titan AE were my favorite scary creations of his.

This man and his films were a huge part of my childhood and were some of my biggest inspirations to try to become a voice actor

Personally, I think the scariest (and most tragic) thing is the death of Judith Barsi 😢 It’s absolutely heartbreaking and terrifying that a father could murder their own child... RIP 🪦 ❤️🕊️

what he says about the meaning behind Thumbelina's journey is just AMAZING. Thank you for this!

How fun you guys were able to get Don himself to share his thoughts and experiences. I’ve heard the Channel Awesome team’s stories about him & they’ve spoken so highly of him

Somebody give this man an honorary Oscar.
He is one of the only animators who believes animation as a medium along with Brad Bird and Guillermo del Toro.

Anastasia’s and The Land Before Time are Don Bluth’s masterpieces. One became a musical and the other with fourteen direct-to-videos in the franchise

Mr. Don Bluth, thank you for helping to shape my childhood (both with your work at Disney and your work after you left Disney) and my love of animation (right there with Disney and WB). All Dog's Go To Heaven, Land Before Time, American Tail, Anastasia, Rock-A-Doodle, and Pebble and the Penguin are some of my favorite animated movies ever and prove that animation is not just for kids..but for everyone. You are an absolute icon and legend.

Grew up with these movies, but obviously as a young kid, the deeper meanings went over my head. It's nice to rehash old memories and learning more about the films

One of my favourite childhood memories was touring Sullivan Bluth Studios in Dublin, my dads cousin was an animator there. I was also a part of a youth choir directed by Don & got to sing a lot of songs featured in his movies including ‘Somewhere Out There’. He was kind enough to sponsor me in the MS Readathon and draw a personalised cartoon portrait of me on my BMX bike. He’s a super nice guy!
