Jennifer Lawrence's house is very modest by Hollywood standards. It is not too big or too showy. It looks like a very nice middle class home.
A lot of stars are buying homes in the 1200 to 1900 sq. ft. range with no more than four bedrooms.

Modest or not, I love Robert Pattison's home, I also love to read and would love that little library, plus I would fill it up with kids books for my niece and nephews as well. Plus, I really love that kitchen, it's so cozy.

The rich and famous have business managers who may invest with any number of contractors etc. It is also common to buy property for assistants and family to use, often near the "main" residence.

I think part of the reason famous people buy bigger houses with land, is security. A small bungalow maybe modest, but it's also very vulnerable.

Dimebag Darrell and his brother Vinnie both still lived their mom in the house they grew up in all the way up to having the first ever #1 Billboard Heavy Metal Debut. They toured the world and made millions all along sleeping in the room they did from grade school to their late 20s. Yeah they went and bought nice houses both less than a mile from Mama.
