Customer notices turbo impeller is borked

After customer realizes his engine looses power, he starts hearing a noise coming from the turbo. I have him pull over and not drive the truck. He inspects the turbo and finds this.

Some turbos have an oil bearing that means when the engine isn't running and there's no oil pressure there will be a bit of play in the impeller and that's normal.(it doesn't look like thats the case here but might be useful to know)

Just a Lil wiggle room so you can run it without the air cleaner so the road debris wont be jamming it up .

Have a vett weekend car with a 88mm turbo out the hood with no protection from road debris. My buddy’s been on my ass about not putting a filter on it just in case something happens. Long story short, had a small bird get sucked in on the highway. Absolutely DEMOLISHED my turbo. Also had to clean the bloody mess from all the pipes, intercooler etc 10/10 would not recommend

Look on the brighter side, that turbo is super easy to access. Replacing it should be a breeze.
