How to starlights

Step 1: is to figure out how many stars you want or need. A full size sedan you would want a minimum of 600 excluding a sunroof area. Use this as a reference point.

Step 2: is the supplies, you’ll need plenty of hot glue with a hot glue gun, t pins to poke all the holes, 1/16 drill bit + drill gun for the plastic areas a pin won’t poke, scissors to cut the excess. side snips to cut it flush at the end, wire strippers, electrical tape, extra wire to connect the starlight kit module (normally in the trunk) to the interior fuse box at the front and a fuse tap with fuses

Step 3: remove the headliner by taking off all the necessary trims, such as the A, B, C Pillars, ceiling grab handles, and interior dome light housings. You’ll have to probably fold the headliner to take it out the car. (The headliner can crease at the step.)

Step 4: taking a marker you plot 600 dots in the way you want them to look. You can add designs or letters or shapes, (keep in mind these things take up a considerable amount of stars)

Step 5: poke all 600 holes using the t pins /drill bit (thumbtacks, are not long enough to poke through in most cases)

Step 6: insert all 600 strands into all 600 holes, one by one, keeping in mind, wire, routing and management.

Step 7: manage all the fiber optic wiring, using tape, you can bundle them up together, and then use hot glue to lay groups down flat.

Step 8: add a decent bead of glue to the base of each fiber optic wire

Step 9: cut most of the excess wire length on the interior side so it’s easier to handle (do not cut flush yet)

Step 10: take the headliner back into the car, usually by bending it again (can crease at this part). Then put the headliner back on with all the trim

Step 11: cut the optic wires, flush with the headliner fabric, using the side snips.

Step 12: attach the rope to the module. Plug the module in. Strip the module wire. (Only has 2 wires black & red) and use the extra wiring to run it up to the fuse box.

Black wire goes to the closest bare metal point near your fuse box. Red wire, connect to a few tap, which you can tap into any accessory fuse.

Then your done

Someone should do an accurate map of the stars in the sky that'd be sick (does anyone know how to do rag tops?)

I’m doing it for the second time with a 600 piece kit. If you had 4-8 people doing this it could genuinely take 2-3 hours. But solo, easily a 24 hour job. That is if you’re changing the headliner material though. That was the longest part imo. It’s such an easy job. Just so tedious and wire management is a must but it is a bitch

Who do you go to to pay to install it😢🙋🏾

Missing crucial steps like separating them so they don’t tangle and making sure the box hangs down the rear side and hot gluing the top where each one goes in

Poke the opposite way, so the fabric and the hole go towards the roof, and the hole looks nicer
