On days when you want nothing to do with your kitchen, you know it's time to heat up your oven and pop in a frozen pizza. It’s not going to be the best-tasting pizza in the world, but it beats chopping, stirring, and doing the dishes for a day.

Frozen pizzas have been part of American kitchens for close to 70 years. Today, there are seemingly countless frozen pizza brands to choose from, and some of them come pretty close to tasting like fresh oven-baked pizza.

Before you bake another frozen pizza, take a look at these facts about them that you might find interesting.

I saw the ad for DiGornio frozen Deep Dish Pan Pizza during your video. I tried a pepperoni one once and never again. Unless you are looking for a thick piece of bread with an almost transparent amount of sauce lightly coating the top almost no pepperoni or cheese then this is for you. I was very disappointed in it. I find that with frozen pizza it is best to have a squeeze bottle of spicy pizza sauce, a green or red pepper diced, some yellow onion diced (and/or some sliced mushrooms), a package of 3 pizza sliced meats and shredded mozzarella on hand to add to the frozen pizza. Adding the extra sauce and brushing some on the bare edge of the crust, filling in the large spaces of no meat or toppings, and adding another layer of cheese turns a frozen pizza that tastes like baked dough with ketchup into a tasty pizza with lots of toppings. It only takes a few minutes to prep everything you want to add to the pizza, then take it out of the freezer and remove the packaging, add your toppings and put it into your preheated oven. I find that lowering the recommended oven temperature by 25F and cooking a few minutes longer gives you a nice golden crust, the dough, sauce and toppings are properly cooked, and the mozzarella added is hot and nicely melted. I check the crust with an instant read thermometer and take the pizza out once 180F internal temperature has been reach. Be sure to let the pizza cool for 2 or 3 minutes before you even think about slicing it. Try it, you'll like it. 😁

No, frozen doesn't taste as good as fresh. that's true for basically all foods. But its convenient, relatively cheap and, depending on your personal taste, still tasty in it's own right.
