..fraseggio, intonazione, come
CANTANTI !

I started listening to Frank Sinatra back in 1964 at age 12. He had an ability to capture a tune like no other. In 1965, when the first annual Sinatra special aired and we had one 19-inch black and white TV in the house, I asked my father if we could watch it. I was one of seven kids and I had to ask if we could see it. Dad smiled and was surprised that I'd want to see the show at age 13. So, I became a big Sinatra fan at a young age. Sinatra cared about the music and wanted to touch people with it. I own a number of recordings of Sinatra at recording sessions for Capitol and Reprise. If you were to listen to these. you'd see how Sinatra went through many takes to get a song exactly as he wanted it. It's clear that there was mutual respect and friendliness between Sinatra and the musicians. They all wanted to produce great music.

The 1966 version of Moonlight in Vermont is phrased beautifully. If you watch the 1966 special that included this, observe his reaction to the musicians at the end of "You're Nobody "Til Somebody Loves You." They all cared about the music. There' an aesthetic, which is is lacking in todays music. Music is about feelings that touch you. It's not about sitting in awe of an operatic range. Sinatra had an ability to touch us, which when combined with people like Nelson Riddle or Gordon Jenkins or Billy May, resulted in some of the best music you could find.

Just listen to the first time he pronounces "Vermont". Impossible to touch your spirit deeper with two notes. Pure rapport between feeling and music.

The Master touching all hearts with this most beautiful reading of a classic ballad, love his slight but oh so poignant variations on the standard melody, plus his inimitable phrasing of course. The Voice at his sublime best🎙️

Thank you for reposting this video! I have been looking for this version. Especially because of what he says at the beginning.
Frank's voice is an instrument of the orchestra. Incredible.

Linda Ronstadt made this song even more beautiful on Frank Sinatra's Duets 2 album.
