My bench-top planer is a workhorse in the shop. But, if I'm planing a lot of stock, it can be a juggling act to keep everything organized and stacked so it doesn't fall to the floor as I'm working. This planer cart not only is the perfect mobile base for your planer, but it also has a few features that make using your planer a little easier.

Built this 5 years ago and still using it. Very functional, plenty of storage space and at the perfect height. Elegant design which makes it a nice piece of shop furniture even when stored against the wall.

I've been needing to remake my planer cart and this one is alot more compact so it's worth considering. Thanks for sharing it

I like it ! But would recommend placing the pull handle on the lower drawer higher up.

Well thought out. Problem is it only holds smaller stock. This raises the question do you cut your rough cut lumber thats anyplace between 6 to 18 feet long down to working parts or do you go ahead and plane it to finnish thickness first you have benefits any way you go about this.
If a long board is warped or one edge isn't stright shorter parts can be made stright without the big loss in materials trying to make a 14 foot board flat and stright its also less bulk to deal with on a jointer.

Was this cart ever in Woodsmith or Shop Notes?

I'm a newbie woodworker when it comes to planers, so wouldn't the aux planer bed need to be straight as possible? Is wood really the best option for that? In the video, the aux bed used seems to rock on the planer bed.

Locking casters suck! Incorporating better mobility solutions into designs like this would be nice.
