In this lesson we show you how to add an Ethernet device to your Controllogix or Compactlogix PLC. While we adding a Powerflex 525 drive to a Compactlogix PLC in this video, the principles are the same for adding any Ethernet device to a Controllogix or Compactlogix PLC in Studio 5000.

Thank you for your videos. I have done quite a bit of programming (allen bradley, automation direct, and others) but i always like witching and learning new things. You do a great job of explaining. Thank you for your time and dedication.

If my drive fails and I replace it do you have a vid on how to load the old parameters to it along with set up Ethernet connection?

Great videos as always! If i am using a momentary foot pedal to control the powerflex can I use the start command in the "Jog" output instead of the start?

Tim, how do you get that IP address you used on the VFD? do you just make that IP address up or do you get it from somewhere on studio? I'm assuming you make that number up from the last IP address you added?

Hi, thanks for all of your videos, really useful for me. Please could you tell me, how the plc keep the parameters for those inverters, I meanimg, we have a powerflex 225 burned out and we just set the IP on his HMI and all parameters was set and it works as built. How it happened? Thanks.

Tim, I love you videos but this one brings up a question.
The two ways you show to turn on and turn off the drive produce the same result but the first one is instantly recognizable as on-off and the second must be interpreted you might say. To the average person the first is easier to understand. Green button turns it on, red button turns it off. The second example has a latch which is not needed, otherwise they are the same. Both take two rungs. What is the benefit of using the harder to read method?

Hello, is there anyway to add the powerflex 525 to a version 13 controller project? I have to AOP downloaded but they won't show up, when I try to add the 525 to the ethernet module in the tree? I found AOP's for ver.16-19 on the Rockwell site.

does IP have to match PLC? as in the first 3 numbers. BTW I followed the steps and it didnt work, I connected drive to workbench and double checked everything (realized my drive was 1.003 and was set up as 7.001). Long story short, nothing seemed to work until I cycled drive power and than boom.... magic.
