I've always wanted to play Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy, but my fingers aren't made for the piano. Therefore I made an adaptation on my own instrument, the voice. Thank you Louise, Milou and Tamino for singing with me and Ramy, Jill and Finn for filming this.

music - Clair de Lune by Claude Debussy (adaptation/cover and lyrics by Pitou)
camera - Ramy Moharam Fouad
helped by Jill Depuydt & Finn Fransen

backing vocalists - Louise Lindskov, Milou Mignon, Tamino Moharam Fouad

LYRICS

I'm leaving, little one
now don't go grieving, little one
there are some things that need to be
need to be done
go rest your head, and in your dreams
I'll come along

I'm leaving, little one
don't go grieving, little one
for there is power found in a song
hear me

when I am done I will go and come back for you
I will find some place and light to take back to you

I've been awaiting
for a long time now
ever awaiting
but it is time now
I've been awaiting
but when I go, please
stay
stay
wait

I'm leaving, little one
don't go grieving, little one
for there is power found in this song

hear me
mmm

This feels like something the moon would sing to all the little kids who secretly stayed up late to spend time in the moon beams as it was almost daybreak

Before he passed away, my younger brother used to hear me sing the first line "I'm leaving, little one, " then, with excitement would ask me if that was an actual song based off Claire de Lune. I would say yes but i never really got the chance to show him this video. I wish he'd have the chance to find this and listen to this before his disease took him. I miss him everyday and that would've been a sweet memory to cherish.

I come back to this song all the time to listen to it here. There's nothing like Pitou and Tamino signing together, it sounds like a dream. I'd love to hear more of them together 💘

Thank you Pitou for making this song so special with your lovely voice. Every time I hear Clar de Lune, I also hear these beautiful lyrics now, too.

Thought it wouldn't be possible - but you really captured this masterpiece with your voice. Really beautiful!

The ugly, imperfect, sloppy, emotion-filled execution of this speaks absolute volumes. It's so real and raw. This is beautiful, priceless.. everlasting.

Thank you for living.

It’s just... I’ve heard the song so many times in movies and shows. And I would imagine how much better it would be if it was sung and like... you got it perfectly

And as I’m reading the lyrics I was like this is crazy because I was walking home from the library thinking how this would be very good as a lullaby in a dark sad way because the name of the song means moonlight

And it’s just so insane because this is exactly what I was thinking about right before I got home and went on my phone and it’s like so crazy and awesome at the same time

Like seriously thanks dude you’re awesome

Absolutely amazing. I've loved Clair De lune for a long time (since the video game Evil withen used it to signal safe areas). Playing a Swanmay in DnD, whose godess is Seluna, I thought if I found a hummed version I could use that sometime when we camped to see if anyone picked up on it, but finding this was great 😀

Fantastic. I have known this song all my life, but suddenly it's become apart of me, and I can't get it out of my head, so I've been searching for other renditions of it. I just found yours. I love it.

I have been listening to this on repeat for the past few months since I discovered it. This brought me to tears the first time listening. It is absolutely beautiful and perfect. It captures the emotions of the song perfectly. Well done.

I can totally see this being played over scenes in war and cuts to peaceful times and then cut back. At the end a shot going from one end showing soldiers, cuts to families then to graves, then fade to a mother cradling her baby.
