Good information! Caregiver training is so important, especially given shorter hospital and SNF stays. I'm a COTA/L in a SNF, and unfortunately some people still aren't understanding that their average stay will be between 10 to 14 days. They feel Medicare "gives us 100 days". They are missing that piece of information on admission, probably because they are overwhelmed with information and paperwork. We start initiating caregiver training as soon as appropriate with a patient -- how to walk with a patient, transfers, toileting tips, how to help them to sit edge of bed, and body mechanic tips for the caregiver to keep themselves safe.
