I work in aviation, corrosion is a severe and always present problem since the metals are always exposed to moisture in a harsh environment. We always use LPS-3 and Tri-Flow, would love to see how they compare to everything else in this video. Great work!

Man, these videos aren't very long but I know how much work goes into these test. Thank you very much. :)

That's some strong acid you got there, it actually changed the bolts from coarse thread to fine thread! I'll have to remember that life hack! lol j/k nice video!

These videos have confirmed for me that Kroil is pure overpriced overhyped garbage in more ways than one. I stick to these chemicals at my shop- WD-40 for lubricant, Mopar Penetrant for rust and fluid film for protection. Living in the salt belt of America I have learned a thing or two when it comes to combating rust.

I love how thorough your demonstrations are. The information you’ve conveyed here is extremely valuable.

Lanolin is a good rust inhibitor because the harder you wipe it the more it works itself into the metal surface. It is a commonly used rust inhibitor on precision measuring tools

Saw a similar video of gun-related spray lube/protectants, where bare metal plates were screwed to a board and left outdoors for quite a while to experience rain. snow, etc. The old standby RemOil did awful, and the winner was the old 3-In-One oil! You never know for sure unless you test!

I'm a landscaper by trade and I'm constantly needing to lube the moving parts of my machines due to the dusty environment they operate in. One of my favorite lubes to use is actually 2 cycle gas, it seems to penetrate excellent and the oil left behind seems to lubricate pretty well. If you do another video like this give it a shot!

Another great test series video, and we do thank you for these as they are appreciated. Definitely makes my purchases gravitate towards products you've found work.

Love these unbiased and very scientifically performed product tests and comparisons!

FYI, when steel oxidizes, the resulting material (rust) is significantly thicker... 16 times thicker to be exact. So while it might look like a lot of corrosion, once you clean off the surface rust you probably can't even see any section loss on the steel. I'm definitely going to pick up a can of that Royal purple after watching this though.

I told you Seafoam was good stuff! A couple minutes into the video I thought "I'd use grease if I really wanted total rust protection" and you didn't try straight grease (which definitely would have won!) but then I saw the lanolin based product and thought because its a grease based product the test is going to be jaded in favor of the only product with grease in it. Interesting, I never knew their was a spray-based grease product. It's kind of against the common sense of how we've always traditionally gotten our grease all these years. A very enlightening video PF.

One of the best channels on yt.
No bullshit.
Well thought out and practical tests.
Fair comparison (specifically mentions the 2 products that are not meant to prevent rust).

Any product recommended by you actually deserves it. Keep it up.

Would love to see CorrosionX and Boeshield T-9 face the competition. CorrosionX is popular in the marine community and Boeshield popular with machinists. Both are kind of pricey, so I wonder if it's wasted money if they're no better than cheaper rust preventatives.

Brake fluid is a good paint remover. A lot of RR hobbyists use it to remove the paint from plastics without harming the finish on the base. I would never think it could be a corrosion resistant material. lol.. I use mostly Liquid Wrench for penetrant, (partiallly cuz I've used it for SO long - it works) still have many types cuz, sometimes one just works better than the rest if it is not just metal to metal. Have kinda gone to high copper anti seize for time based anti corrosion on threads and closed up sites. You really have the BEST relatable comparison tests that I have found. No one can test this stuff into the ground, but doing it on common materials that a lot of us use will keep me watching YOUR videos as long as you make them. Course, I turned 71 last weekend, so there is that. Born & raised on the farm, now retired after 30yrs of county facilities maintenance in Colorado.

Interesting video and very thorough experiment. That Royal Purple has certainly convinced me that's a great product to protect things like tools, springs, chassis parts and other spray-able surfaces. That said, anyone who is serious about protecting bolt threads, probably is going right to the Anti-Seize over any of these products. So a cool experiment if you are so inclined would be a comparison between Aluminum based and copped based anti-seize. As well as different brands. Thanks for the Video.

Some country folks swears to use old drained engine oil to prevent rust on their vehicles under belly. I told them used engine oil have too much contamination in them.
Can you do a test on old used engine oil vs fresh engine oil for anti rust protection ?
Plus use Fluid Film as the standard bench mark for comparison.
