A new hope on Brunei Bay

In the early morning at Brunei Bay, the rising sun shines down. A cross-sea bridge too big to take in at a single glance resembles a giant dragon crossing the sea, in a sharp contrast with the water.

In one of the cars whizzing along the bridge, Khairunnisa recalls the scene after the opening of the Temburong Bridge. "In the past, we had to take a boat to go to Seri Begawan. There were more than 20 people packed in the small cabin and a strong smell of gasoline filled the air. Now the bridge is open to traffic. We don't have to worry about cross-infection from taking public transportation during the pandemic."

The Temburong Bridge was built by China State Construction. The bridge's 30 kilometers also cross the largest unexplored virgin tropical rainforest in Southeast Asia. Suhaji, the bridge's safety manager, told reporters, "There are many monkeys in the virgin forest. Before the project started, the environmental protection department told us that the construction noise should not disturb the monkeys resting in the forest."

Thank you to His Majesty Government of Brunei Darussalam for funding 100% of the construction of the bridge to connect the people in 4 districts.

CSC did an outstanding job in the construction and just in the nick of time just as the start of the covid 19 pandemic, the bridge was opened for use. It would have been extremely difficult providing health care services to our people in Temburong when borders are closed locally and by Malaysia like in Limbang.

Many countries like Brunei are starting to realised what is beneficial for them. They are knowing who are their real trading partners and not being bullied by colonialist.

Heartiest congratulations to the people of Brunei who are fortunate to get the bridge and the highway that goes through it.

The people of former British colonies Sabah and Sarawak (once part of Brunei) are still waiting for the 2000 km Pan Borneo Highway to be completed after it was launched in 1966. This was one of many false promises made to induce the people to give up real independence and accept the annexation of their countries into the UK Malayan creation of the Malaysia federation in 1963.

The people of Brunei are so very lucky that their then-sultan decided that Malaysia was not in their interest and rejected Malaysia in 1963. This was because the then-Malayan government demanded that Brunei hand over all control of its oil wealth to Malaya. Since then Brunei has become one of the richest states in SE Asia.

On the other hand, Sabah and Sarawak people found themselves in a disastrous situation where their countries have virtually become Malayan colonies and their oil and gas resources were stolen by the Malayans to develop Malaya. This has left the 2 former British colonies the most backward poverty-stricken and underdeveloped parts of Malaysia.

The people of Brunei must see how lucky they are that their country is free and independent and not in failed Malaysia!

Such spectacular bridges are showing us, where the ocean is low enough you can buil up new artificial islands, breaking the killer waves and protect the coasts, they might turn usefull for eolic mills, creating the electrical power for the communities nearby and having more electrical vehicles as city assets, we can have all the knowledge skills tools and informations by now for such environmental projects and ...give a lot of people a lot of chances for new careers. We can notice in this video a lot of traffic, wish you check as well if multilevel parking lots for cars are available as well, because...progress is usefull for our planet as well, untill we tame wild winds or violent storms, wishing you never feel sorry to have projects helping local communities this way. Nobody could feel sorry turn back planting palm trees, the palm oil is very yummy yummy, l love it, l am trully sorry that most Brunei forests were devastated lately of massive palm oil exploitation, there are things that...are not of our business but then we have to realize, we are all involved in these matters.
