How do you pick a spool pin? What's the best way to pick a Masterlock 570? Check out this video for information on both. If you're newer to picking, I hope you find some information in this video to help you out. If you have any questions about picking or would like to see a specific lock picked on my channel, please feel free to leave it in the comments. And if I have the lock and can help, I'm happy to.

Keep Locksport Legal!! Do not pick locks in use and don't pick locks that don't belong to you.

Well done and thoroughly explained. Made me realize that I could be picking a spool and fall into a false set on the same spool I’m picking if it was the top part initially blocking the shear line - hadn’t really thought of that before. Thanks.

This lock has dogged me for over two years now I have only ever got the open once and not on camera. This video explains why perhaps i cannot pick this lock. Thanks for doing this video, I am going to give my lock another try. So when you picked it the first time did you pick that first pin at all. cheers

It seems like every time I decide to look up a video of a lock Ive been recently curious about I find one of your videos first.
Can’t be mad about though, they are good videos. Keep it up!

i have a similar lock and i absolutely loved picking it. it was my first spool pin lock and gave me quite the headache at first but then it suddenly "clicked" and everything made sense. id def recommend getting it, it's an excellent warmup for spools once you get good w it

Love the full tutorial/explanation. (I need to hear it over & over until it sinks in). If I could make a noob suggestion, and maybe it would only help me, if you could zoom out a little or frame the shot so I could see your finger on the tensioning tool too. Helps me to see how you’re slightly increasing/decreasing tension as you pick. Thanks LL!! 🙂.

Phil gave me a 575 which is a bit wider and it's a solid brass version. It seems stupid to me that they couldn't make it rekeyable. When I seen it I thought it was an SFIC but they're not. The 575 has spring tension on the core and is a bit difficult to pick. Could've been because it had been used and gummed up. I'm restoring it though and I bet then it wont take near as long to pick. Graphite is cheap and really helps if you're picking a gummed up old lock. There has been several old locks o could not get open without it.
