What I like about your live tutorials are not only the explanations but also the fact that there are jewels for every photographer hidden in the side notes. thank you very much, and i am looking forward to the next videos

Nice work, love your problem solving ideas. I actually learned something new here today. There's a simple formula to getting a Black or Thunder Gray background to go completely clean white. Shoot and Set your *BACKGROUND LIGHTS* to: *2.5 to 3 fstops* above your subjects meter reading. And to make any background or no background to go *completely black*, set your subjects key light to be *3.5 - 4 fstops* brighter than anything in your background.

You said something about a clean demo. I think seeing all the issues you guy have in these demos is as valuable as the lessons you are trying to teach. Just keep doing what you do.

Excellent video, Seth. A lot of useful advice and I particularly appreciated the comment about the "sandbag swinging". I hadn't thought about that!

Nice! About to use a similar setup to this, for some product shots for a client.

Wow, you really hit on some great points and factual info here, great job thank you for sharing. Although Daniel taught you everything :-) loved the way you explained the science here. Watched many videos and this is one of the best to date. Even the now obvious statement on which leg the sand bag needs to be on, Daniel always said the highest leg but you explained why, makes sense now. And you use CaptureOne so effortlessly. Keep it up mate. Great inspiration.

So smart and simple. Rather than than trying to properly light up a white seamless with at least 2 lights. Wonder how the softbox background would look with gels? Could save a ton of different colored seamless rolls.

I tried this technique but I was getting a bit of fringing. Any idea what I'm doing wrong and how I can fix it?

Hi Seth, just been enjoying your video, lighting subjects and backgrounds, but the comments are turned off.
Many people have problems with the 10mm shaft on the excellent Lastolite trifold reflector you used.
If you use the older Godox S mount, not the newer S2 model, it has a different umbrella holder and with a little effort with a round file the 10mm shaft now fits. This solves an old problem of hot shoes breaking off with the traditional type of adaptor which connects direct to the standard flash hot shoe,
An added advantage is you can now use the Godox AD200 w/s unit when you need more power and a much more secure adaptor. Thanks for a super video and I hope this info helps some of your subscribers.
