BYU diabetes research bolstered by students with diabetes

Four of professor Jeffery Tessem's student lab assistants have Type 1 diabetes. Their shared disease brings them together as they research solutions for future diabetes treatments. Led by Tessem, they students are working to understand the pathways that lead to replication of beta cells--cells responsible for identifying glucose and secreting insulin in response.
