Hey so in my med school Anatomy class we learned that since your calf muscle attaches above your knee, doing seated calf raises actually inhibits both your performance and the "gains" you will see from the exercise as you are basically not using the full muscle and only actually activating the soleus as apposed to the gastrocnemius. Definitely not saying I am 100% correct, just relaying what my professors told us.
