I pulled up to my house after I had just bought a new truck, was sitting there messing on my phone when my neighbor walked up with a shotgun to see who was in my driveway.

Country folks have big machines that can dig really deep holes. They also know how to keep their mouth shut.

I saw the most brilliant sign one time in someone's back yard: "Anyone found here at night will be found here in the morning."

The trouble about stealing in the country is that bullets can cover a lot of distance in a short time. The sheriff, when presented with a dead stranger and a neighbor they’ve known for years is going to side with the neighbor. I was taught to walk up the center of a stranger’s driveway and call out before even getting close enough to knock on a door and then go to only the front door. Varying from this can cause fatal lead poisoning. Be extra polite and extra nice in the country.

This is why I love castle laws, they exist to warn people of the FAFO theory

It’s funny how in a rural area nothing but corn and haybails a thief can be found (probably dead) within 24 hours yet in the city with all them cameras every 14 year old stealing a Twix from the gas station disappears like Houdini never to be found again

I know of a fella that thought he would add farm equipment to his list of heavy equipment theft. We don't see him around anymore.

Actually I grew up in the country. My grandmother raised horses and had a pretty sizable farm. While the elders followed these rules, their kids were on drugs and stuff got stolen all the time.
