George Russell wrote: ‘I do not think the East has spoken with so beautiful a voice since the ‘Gitanjali’ of Rabindranath Tagore as in ‘The Prophet’ of Kahlil Gibran, who is an artist as well as a poet. I have not seen for years a book more beautiful in its thought, and when reading it I understand better than ever before what Socrates meant in the ‘Banquet’ when he spoke of the beauty of thought which exercises a deeper enchantment than the beauty of form….I could quote from every page, and from every page I could find some beautiful and liberating thought.’

I am not a professional reader, but I have loved this work of Kahlil Gibran for many years and it is my great pleasure, having the benefit of today’s technology, to read the work, record and publish it, hopefully for the listeners’ pleasure.

My dear late husband gave me this beautiful book when we were dating. I’m 72 now with stage 4 cancer. It felt like a visit with my sole mate listening to this and it made me realize I must share this with our children. Thank you!

My wife had pancreatic cancer stage 3 when my son was just 4 months old. She is a warrior and after many surgeries, 2 yrs of chemo and countless rounds of radiation and 6 years later she’s the angel that was sent to Grace my paths and teach me humility. I found that voice after those years. It was indeed difficult. But nothing prepared me for my mother’s suicide a little over a year ago. Her birthday was yesterday. Thanksgiving will never be the same for me oh how I wish differently. Pray for my family and I. Pray for strength in my life and the peace watcher finds me yet again.

In my darkest hour I prayed many times for God to help me . Soon I met Ria, who immigrated to America in 1963 at 20 y/o . The year I was born .  We became best friends and lovers and significant others .  I found this book among other treasured books and she told me to read it . She knew it would be profound to me and it was .
She grows old now and frail and I am scared but I know I will find the book and read it to her . She is as beautiful as the book . I love her . We are nearly 20 years together now . And I weep

As a young woman, I traveled to Manhattan by train and read the works of Kahil daily. His works influenced my life in a profound way. In my later years, I have published a book of Poetry " A Passionate Heart" Thank you for this beautiful work, your voice is as soothing as I imagined Kahil Gibran.

I read this first when I was 17. Found it in a box of old books someone set out in the trash. Thought since it was such a small book I would read it. I didn't realize at that moment the words would plant the seed of the locus in my head and my heart.

A Book at my bed side since I started reading English poems. It helps me to transcend into the beyond and touch the Burning Bush. And you, Philip Snow, rendered it in a soothing tone deserving of the excellence of the Master Poet.

Found an old antique, leather-bound version of this treasure of a book many years ago. I took it on every trip across the world, through thick and thin, and always kept me centered. A good luck charm if you will. Just by looking or thinking about it peaces me right out. A dear friend from Netherlands of many years' wife had a very bad accident and he was not the same for a few years. I just had to leave him with this book the last time I saw him in Lyon over 4 years ago. Know it helped them in some way. I will find another one but in the meantime I just watch this digital version ;) Peace to all and thanks for the upload Philip Snow.
