Panasonic HC W580 Camcorder test

Just bought this new camcorder and wanted to try out the zoom. I will be doing another video with pictures of some metal detecting finds finds I'll be out tomorrow detecting with it so stay tuned. Manic Dev will be in focus lol.

Why can't we have a optical zoom camcorder that zooms 1000x?

I am surprised that we don't have that yet with all of our technology.
