Illinois parade shooting: Missing boy looking for parents after Highland Park mass shooting

Authorities in suburban Chicago are seeking to identify the parents or guardians of a young boy who was found in the aftermath of a mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park.

Unfortunately, his parents did pass away from direct gunshot wounds. I grew up with the father and it's heartbreaking knowing that his son was just getting old enough to start forming major memories. He is with his grandparents now and I hope that they are all healing emotionally together. This has been hard on our community here. This is a stereotypical suburb. If this can happen here, it can happen anywhere.

This is beyond devastating. This brings back memories of my Facebook friend's 23-year old brother and his young wife who were newly weds who both died shielding their two- month- old baby son at a mass shooting in an El Paso Walmart leaving him orphaned. My heart is aching. I am sorry lil guy.

Someone posted on the highland neighborhood page that his father Sadly died. This couple said that his father shielded him and was under him.

UPDATE: his name is Aiden, and his parents, Kevin and Irina were both killed by the gunman. Prayers for this innocent kid 😔he's probably so confused on what happened!
