Показать описание
The first step when learning how to scythe is learning how to move your body. At least it should be! Getting it right from the start will help reduce the risk of injuries and make your scything more efficient and fun. This video is a step-by-step guide where we add one movement at a time until we find a good rythm and feel that we are in control. Lots to think about, but once you get it, it's like riding a bike. And just as much fun!

As a 76 year old double leg amputee (below knee), I try and stay in shape. I have a food forest where only a scythe and/or sickle is permitted for the “chop and drop” we do. Scything keeps me in shape, I don’t have to use fossil fuels and it helps me re adjust me sense of time as does, of course, nature.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Finding in-person scythe instruction is non-existent where I live and these tutorials are the best I’ve seen online. Your mission seems to be to share the beauty, eloquence and use of this wonderful instrument and is much appreciated!

You must be the king of the discotheque with such moves!
But to be serious: all your videos are very insightful as well as relaxing.
Many thanks for the beautiful cinematography as well!

I can't believe no one has commented, "Wax on ... wax off." 🤭 Seriously, I'm 60, newly widowed, and need to get a handle on my property. I just purchased 2, antique, American Scythes. I found quality instruction videos on restoring and maintaining those. With your videos, I think I can get myself ready for actually using them. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! I very much look forward to becoming proficient at this skill... eventually.

At 6 minutes, the 'sexy' starts... 🤣
Been watching your videos on scythe mowing for a couple of months now. Very well made & very easy to understand 👍
I'm bringing scything to Malaysia! (Hopefully... 😅)

Thank you. This helped me with getting a more uniform cut. It feels much better too. I was too stiff and mostly using my arms and shoulders. After doing a warm up using this video, I vent out and scythed yard. After I was finished, my arms felt fine and not even slightly fatigued. Transfering the load to my core and legs made it really enjoyable. Everything became better, my swath became much more even from side to side and I was able to widen my swath because of the grounded feel I had.
I really appreciate your advice. You have a world class teaching style. 👍😄

So glad we found your channel as we want to learn to scythe our meadows in the north of Italy!

I’m new to scything and so glad I found your channel. Most of the stuff online shows how to mow in a way that just doesn’t feel quite right to me. As an young-ish athletic man, I connect much more with the way you incorporate Tai chi, martial arts, and fluid motion into the process. I’ll be watching many of your videos and will start practicing with these techniques right away. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Danke🙏

Excellent. I never realised there was so much to scything. My father used a scythe all his life but he never had exercises!

First, your videos are very helpful and your instructional style is supurb. The work you do is important.

I am not an attorney but if you haven't done so already, please patent your Nordic design. You obviously put much time, effort, and thought into improving this wonderful tool AND made it beautiful. Thank you for all you do. There are no courses available where I live so your videos are invaluable.

Thank you so much for doing such in depth videos. I'll hopefully have a scythe by the end of the month to get rid of the strimmer and mower.

Good thing I thought about wearing training clothes! 😅 I truly struggle with coordination but the adding of the "catch and throw" move in the arms helped me to not do the "ass to grass" in both directions (or neither) and it helped a lot to add the breath, both for rythm, grounding and that it's easy to just ... stop breathing when you do something complicated. 😅 I will try this again tomorrow and using the breath from the start, for now I'm going to take a shower and feel accomplished. 😁
