Ludovic-Mohamed Zahed wants an Islam that is more tolerant of the LGBTQ community. He’s fighting for gay Muslims to be able to live their lives openly without fear or shame.

Ludovic-Mohamed Zahed trained as an imam in Algeria. In his homeland he didn’t dare talk about being gay. It was only in Marseille, France that he came out. Zahed is the founder of France's first inclusive mosque and the CALEM Institute in Marseille, where he trains new imams in a more progressive Islam. Same-sex marriages are taboo in Islam, but Zahed wants to break new ground. He’s not afraid to circumvent this taboo and bless the marriages of LGBTQ couples. Three qualities degree in Islam: Islam - Iman - Ikhsan, the person we call Muslim, Mu'min, and then Mukhsin. A Muslim isn't necessarily a Mu'min, but a Mu'min is definitely a Muslim.
Belief in Islam but doesn't carry iman is like saying I love you, but you don't act upon it.
Islam without iman is like you go camping without a compass and a clear destination.

So this is very interesting. This man should create his own religion because he is basically creating the tenets of Muslim faith as he goes, so it's best he leave it (Islam) completely and find his own path. Otherwise, to bastardize his original faith is very insulting indeed. I really think he needs to create his own religion/spirituality that makes him happy. But I am thinking the reason he doesn't leave it is because of ethnic/cultural identity rather than anything else.

DW must understand the meaning of Imam, you cannot just stand up and say Iam the Imam, you need qualifications, people of all orientations must accept you as Imam not just homosexuals, then you can be called a Imam. Just because Zayd told you he is an Imam or wore a kurtha payjama or went to Hajj doesn't make him a Imam.
