MATERIALS:
Pom Pom Garland
* Lots of pom poms in various sizes and colors
* Embroidery floss, bakery twine, or thin string
* A sharp-tipped needle *large enough to accommodate the string that passes through your pom poms
* Paper straws
* Scissors
Leaf Garland (starts at 5:20)
* Crepe paper or cardstock
* Floral wire
* Floral tape
* Scissors
Crochet Popcorn Garland (starts at 11:20)
* Worsted weight yarn in a cream/popcorn color
* H8/5.00mm crochet hook
* Scissors
CROCHET PATTERN:
BLO - back loops only
Ch(s) - chain(s)
Hdc - half double crochet
Inv dec - invisible decrease
Sc - single crochet
Sk - skip
Sl st - slip stitch
[ ] - work everything inside the bracket the number of times indicated
Reverse Popcorn Stitch: Work 4 hdc in next st. Drop the loop on your hook. Push the hook through the top of the first of your hdc's going from back to front (the tip of your hook should be pointing toward you). Then pick up and pull the dropped loop through the top of that 1st hdc stitch. Your popcorn should be bulging out on the wrong side of your work.
Leave enough of a yarn tail to make a hanging loop and then ch 2.
Round 1: Sk 1st ch and work 6 sc in next ch. Do not join rounds. Work in a spiral. - 6 sts
Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around. - 12 sts
Round 3: Inv dec in BLO 6 times. Sl st to next sc (but not too tightly). - 6 sts
Round 4: [Reverse Popcorn Stitch, sl st] 3 times. This completes your first popcorn. - 6 sts
Step 5: Ch 4 or 5 (number of chs is up to you). This gives you a little room to make your next popcorn. If you want each popcorn farther apart, add more chains.
Repeat 1-5 to keep adding to your popcorn garland until you reach your desired length.
Note: While working on your 2nd piece of popcorn and thereafter, you'll need to drop the project behind your hands after Rnd 1 in order to continue to Rnd 2.
