Hugh Jackman actually had a type of skin cancer known as basal cell carcinoma. He has recovered from it, but being exposed to the light gives him another chance of getting it. So thats why he had the sleeves to try and reduce the risk of getting it agian. I'm not really sure if it was to cover his muscles.

Im sick of replying to people with the same "he had it, but has been treated" (which is literally half my point) he has been given the all clear, he may still have some cancer cells but his cancer is as good as gone for now. please if you're going to say stuff like that read it fully rather than seeing the first part and going "you said he doesn't have skin cancer and then said he does" no i said he DID but has since been treated meaning while he may still have some cancerous cells he may as well not have cancer, and while yes it can come back, thats not the point and thats not what is being said half the time

he doesn't have skin cancer, but he did have it in the past, he HAD basal cell carcinoma (a form of skin cancer) in 2013 and has since been treated, he has a very high chance of getting it again so that is why he wears the sleaves, it was also said by a few people that it was partly to hide his muscles until the end of the film where his shirt is destroyed showing his muscles then, but the sleeves were not recieved well in early trailers so they used cgi to put his arms over the sleeves.

Hugh Jackman is a national treasure. He's probably one of the greatest humans on this planet. He's one of the kindest humans on this planet. He truly is just an amazing person and I feel really bad that he has skin cancer.

the reason they did this in early trailers is they were planning on making hugh jackmans impressive physique a surprise for the end of the movie when his suit breaks off in the shown clip

To anyone out there who can't understand why this movie and worked so well.
This was a true labour of love to make, a dream and a vision of two Men who are incredibly good and professional at their craft.
It didn't just cater to the comic book audience and it was still easy for casual audiences to understand the plot. Hugh Jackman is a comic book movie icon and weather the films are good or not He has never phoned in a performance. Obviously the same can be said about Ryan Reynolds, but I personally want to praise the guy for his Dedication to introducing Deadpool to the world and doing it so well that people will remember this character forever and is now as big a household name as Batman Superman Spiderman.
A character who other wise would have just been largely unknown or forgotten.

I can remember my Aunties boyfriend and his mate taking me to the comic book shop and they had a full blown debate when they found the New Mutants issue he first appeared in. Because one of them thought he was really fun and wild to read about and the other thought he was a massive frickin dingus and a parody of bad comics. I read that book and just thought well this Red ninja looking dude looks cool but he didn't do much. That was in 2002 and I was eight. Deadpool was just okay
Then. But Ryan cared so much about the character he never shut up about the idea of a movie and it paid off big time. Now if you ask people who they're favorite comic book character is you can almost guarantee Deadpool's name will come up.

For everyone saying he doesn't have skin cancer, you are missing the point, he has had skin cancer and very recently and needs to cover up, if not it's a greater risk. But for the movie, I do think it was mainly to show the end how in shape he was.

first of all: Big respect for everyone who took that detail into consideration.
shows that not everything in Holywood is bad.
secondly to those in the comments who say: He had it, he beat it so its dumb to pay more attention to it.
Once you have cancer you can you treat it, yes to a degree that your body can handle it by it self. a cancer treatment isnt like beating a cold or the dresded C- Virus from 2019. There are most likely still cancer cells and many if not all type of cancers have the habit that if you are not careful will come back.
