Do you normally paddle in calm or windy conditions?

Last year mainly calm conditions this year mainly windy conditions not by choice but get out out when i can and thats just been the way this year in the uk! Love you videos, started SUP last year but have some other watersports experience. Most of this video confirms to me the adjustments i am making to stance and strokes in these kind of conditions are pretty much right, seemed to work and be right through experimentation but had no idea if it was the done thing so nice to see someone else confirming.

Here in Phuket we have the dry season from december to end of april with easterlies and then the rainy season from may to the end of november with strong westerlies and ocean swell. When I got my first i SUP march 30 2022 I immediately had to face real oceanic conditions but in any case on the west coast of the island I knew the wind will always bring me back ashore. It took me time to be able to paddle along the coast in 1m chop due to the backwash on the cliffs. When the dry season arrived I was hoping more fun but the calm sea along the shore gave a false feeling of safety and easy paddle. In fact the mountains created extrem falling offshore winds with frequent gusts up to 25 knots. I spent too much time trying to speed up the double concave hull of my 12.6 x27 LVR Hypr board which in fact couldn’t go faster than my Starboard Tikhine wave which is an excellent board. On the same 11km trip the TW average speed was 4, 5 knots the LVR 4, 51 knots.
In fact I finally prefer the oceanic conditions of the monsoon season. Low season also permits to access easier to the spots. Even if I have to slowly dig my way upwind in a 2 meter swell out of Patong’s bay I know half the paddle session will be an enjoyable downwind with surfs. I only used the Hypr LVR 29 times, I broke my low back on this board with permanent brakes on, and went to hospital: I have 4 disc hernias. I just bought a week ago a real allwater board: a Naish Maliko 14x26 and at the second cruise went up to 17, 8 kph (9, 61 knots). My best speed on the flat with the Hypr LVR was 11 kph and 13kph on a surf. I must say I ordered a 14x26 Hypr LVR and paid 350 USD of shipping to get a damaged 12, 6 x 27. I never managed to get the 14 x 26 and told the the boss he could keep his 14 footer which would be as disapointing as the 12, 6. I prefered to tell the truth, Hypr boards are not the fastest boards in the world as claimed on the videos...nobody paddle Hypr in races. Buy Hypr if you want to hang a nice and shiny object in your living room.

I would like to learn how to manage a wing in these conditions, as I have a beautiful lake with constant wind near me... but I can barely paddle in calmer lakes :|
I bought a board with a center fin slot for that reason, but thought that would be easier
