Sometimes I hear Dolly Parton when I listen to her sing. Angelic.

I played this a million times after my husband passed away. It was our thing to go places that only we knew about, rides, looking for adventure. Oh how I miss him...every day. He's been gone almost 12 years. Hard for me to believe sometimes.

My dad passed from brain cancer in January, this was one of our songs. It’s almost like I can feel him hugging me through this song, saying I’ll be ok. Thank you.

And let’s give it up for Nathaniel Smith, cellist.

This is like a warm hug wrapped in a soft blanket in a cozy bed, like the best lullaby I could every dream of.

I don’t usually comment on things and I know no one will see this or care but I just completely started bawling my eyes out listening to this. I so vividly remember downloading this song on my little iPod back in 7th grade. I loved the song so much. I haven’t heard it in yearssss until I stumbled upon this video today. There have been some serious changes in the world and who I am since I last heard the song. Loss of many family members and friends, 2 suicide attempts, sexual assault, and my unplanned pregnancy had to be terminated yesterday, and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Long story short, lots of heartbreak. Listening to this again made me think of my younger 13 year old self and who I was back then. Don’t know where that simple thing went. Just made me sad and nostalgic. Kacey’s voice always hits deeply different.

She really does make it so tragic while the original sounds more nostalgic. Beautiful and controlled.

I've literally never heard of her, so I have no idea why she was recommended to me, but this was so beautifull!!! I'm gonna check out more of hers

They can;t find a category for her, she doesn't quite fit any particular genre. Isn't that often the case for artists pushing boundaries and in touch with the pulse of true creativity? Amazing sensetivity and powerful, grounded delivery as usual for this beautiful woman.

This song has always been my favorite. It gives me a little nostalgic feeling, a little content feeling, a little sadness, and a little happiness at the same time. I love all the version of this song. <3
Great song. Gorgeous and talented singer. Aspiring musicians.

LYRICS

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?

Oh simple thing where have you gone?
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

And if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go?
So why don't we go?

Ah-ah-ah
Ah-ah-ah

This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?

I’ve seen her live twice. She’s incredible, but her band is equally incredible.
